Over 2,450 freshmen are par
ticipating in orientation this weeka
on the USC campus, and more are
expected to arrive before classes
begin Monday.
Dr. Rollin E. Godfrey, director
of admissions a n d registration,
said the number of freshmen en
rolled for the 1967 fall semester
was not a significant increase over
last fall's enrollment of 2,434.
In addition, 700 transfer stu
dents from USC regional campuses
and other colleges have reported
for orientation. gr<
Nine thousand applications for an
admission were received from pros- nu
pective freshmen a n d transfer foi
students, Godfrey said. This was --
an increase of five or six per cent
over last year's applications.
Godfrey said the progress of -
computer registration was "so far,
so good. We had a power failure
for two hours Tuesday, but every
thing worked out in time."
O. J. Paris, assistant director
for admissions, said, "We are
pleased in the administrative of
fice with the results of freshman
orientation. If any problems have
come up, we don't know about
them. We have had our fingers
crossed.
"We hope that registration will "Ai
become a less traumatic experience wine,
for freshmen in the future. The Stadi
situation has been improved this and
year, we believe." sumn
