SAE Has Founders Activities Delta Chapter of Sigma Alphi Epsilon is celebrating its founding with a banquet and a dance thi: week-end. The name of the new chapter sweetheart will be announced Sat urday night at the formal dance at the American Legion with music by the Catalinas. Delta Chapter originated Feb. 28, 1882, when James G. Glass ob tained permission from the Uni versity president to establish the national fraternity on the Carolina Campus. The origins of SAE go back to the University of Alabama where on March 9, 1856, eight students banded together and f o r m e d a Greek letter fraternity to be known as Sigma Alpha Epsilon, giving the fraternity the distinc tion of being the oldest Southern social fraternity. Present sweetheart for the USC chapter is Betty Perry. Faculty advisor is Dr. Richard B. Josey, campus physician, and alumni as sociation president is William D. Verner.
