Delta Chapter originated Feb.
28, 1882, when James G. Glass ob
tained permission from the Uni
versity president to establish the
national fraternity on the Carolina
Campus.
The origins of SAE go back to
the University of Alabama where
on March 9, 1856, eight students
banded together and f o r m e d a
Greek letter fraternity to be
known as Sigma Alpha Epsilon,
giving the fraternity the distinc
tion of being the oldest Southern
social fraternity.
Present sweetheart for the USC
chapter is Betty Perry. Faculty
advisor is Dr. Richard B. Josey,
