Lloyd Gordon, president of the RTNDAC, welcomed the students to the conference. The first talk was given by Tom Matthews of WI1T in Charlotte on the future . employment in broadcasting. The final workshop session was a discussion on broadcast journal ism, led by Dean Albert 'T. Scrog gins of the School of Journalism and Dr. Richard M. Urey, Director of the Broadcasting Sequence of the School of Journalism. John L. Greene was the speaker at the Dutch luncheon. Greene, of WITV in Charlotte, commented on his reasons for choosing a carver in broadcast news. Duke Snyder, of W( KM in Winnsboro, presided at the luncheon. Those representing Mexico were Robert Messmer, Joe Watson, and Mike Hernandez. According to the Secretary-Gen eral of the Model UN, the purpose of the conference was to "obtain an awareness and appreciation of the problems facing the world and the efforts being made by the UN to solve them." Carolina Lo Vote In Str A straw ballot, taken in conjunc tion with the freshman run -off elections on Oct. 2-1. indicated that the majority of Carolina Law Stu dlents favor the Democratic candi dates running in the South Caro lina General Election, Nov. 8. Ballots for the two United States Senate seats gave Bradley Morrah 123 votes and Strom Thurmond 120. In the second seat race, Ernest Hollings received 176 votes to Mar shall Parker's 67.
