Lloyd Gordon, president of the
RTNDAC, welcomed the students
to the conference. The first talk
was given by Tom Matthews of
WI1T in Charlotte on the future .

The final workshop session was
a discussion on broadcast journal
ism, led by Dean Albert 'T. Scrog
gins of the School of Journalism
and Dr. Richard M. Urey, Director
of the Broadcasting Sequence of
the School of Journalism.
John L. Greene was the speaker
at the Dutch luncheon. Greene, of
WITV in Charlotte, commented on
his reasons for choosing a carver
in broadcast news. Duke Snyder, of
W( KM in Winnsboro, presided at
the luncheon.

submitted an amendment that the

given the Chinese seat on the Se

pated in the model assembly repre
senting The United Kingdom and
Mexico. Ian Gouldsbrough, Paula

United Kingdom delegates. Those
representing Mexico were Robert
Messmer, Joe Watson, and Mike
Hernandez.
According to the Secretary-Gen
eral of the Model UN, the purpose
of the conference was to "obtain an
awareness and appreciation of the
problems facing the world and the
efforts being made by the UN to
solve them."
