Weltner was the only congress man from the states of the old Confederacy to vote for the 196.1 Civil Rights Bill. le also proposed the investigation of the Ku Klux Klan by the House Un-American Activities Committee. A native of Atlanta, Congress man Weltner is a graduate of Oglethorpe University and has a law degree firom Columbia Univer sity. CS..eet Student I In Campi A Carolina student was sus pended Monday when the discipli nary committee found him guilty of a mail theft committed Nov. 23, according to Dean of Men L. Eugene Cooper. Combined losses of $50 from student mail boxes last week has brought a warning from USC postal authorities that mail boxes should be locked at all times. In the Monday case, the student was caught by postmaster Joe Lawrence browsing about the post boxes and was turned over to the USC Police. le was found with ten letters on his person and con fessed the theft. Dean C o o p e r International Experiment Discussed Students and faculty members interested in living abroad in the Experiment in International Liv ing will have the opportunity to meet with the program's campus relations associate on Dec. 13. Mr. Lars Carlson will meet with USC department heads to discuss the various travel and host plans s p o n s o r e d by the Experiment. Proposing that "people learn to live together by living together," the Experiment sponsors programs of exchange between the U. S. an(d some 30 other countries. The fire department reported no damage to the historic building. According to Asst. Chief Ander son of the Columbia Fire Depart ment, when a celrtain amount of heat is generated in any one spot, an alarm system is set off auto matically.
