Schedule For Rush Announced A new fall rush schedule has been announced by the Carolina Pan-Hellenic Council in order to avoid the commonplace clash be tween formal rush and other campus activities. In the new schedule, rush will be over before hour quizzes start, and rushees will therefore have more time for study. The reason for rush is to enable girls to chose what sorority they want and help the sororities chose the girls they want to pledge. Many facets of sorority life are introduced to rushees during this time. Fall rush is schedule( as fol lows: September 16 - Any continuing woman student who wants to go out for rush will conic to school. September 19 - Campus - wide drop-in in each sorority room. September 21 - Pan - Hellenic Coke party. A fter a general dis cussion girls will split up into groups and go to separate rooms where they can ask questions. This is the last day to sign up for rush. September 23 and 24 - Routine teas in the sorority rooms. September 26--Preferential teas. September 28, 211, and 30-First round of preferential parties. October 6 - Last night party. Miss Henderson will graduate from the University this June with an HA degree in journalism. She has held offices and membership in Pi Beta Phi social sorority, Theta Sigma Phi journalism soror ity, press club, and Gamecock staff. She was also chosen a varsity cheerleader. She holds the titles of "Miss Football USA," Miss Columbia, Miss Neptune, and first runner-up to Miss South Carolina. Phi Epsilon Pi Alpha Theta chapter of P1 Epsilon Pi held its annual sprin formal at the Market Restaurar on Friday, May 10. Selected as Alpha Theta Drear Girl was Carol Fink of the Un versity of Maryland. Carol i pinned to the new Superior, Sarr uel Solomon. The fraternity also presented number of annual awards. Higi lighting the ceremonies was th presentation of the Rundbaker Lavender Best Pledge Award t George D. Lehmann. The Novil Lourie Outstanding Active Awar went to Max Hellman, and Sat Pearlman received the Klint Koenig Scholastic Improvemer Plaque. Phi Kappa Sigma The annual Phi Kappa Sigm alumni party on May 8 saw th announcement of Rose Pendarvi as the 1965 Phi Kap Sweethear Rose, a 20-year-old junior from S George, is majoring in elementar education and is pinned to Jir Bell, a Phi Kap brother froT Harleyville. Named recipient of both th Victor Laurin Scholarship Awar and the Outstanding Graduatin: Senior Award for service to th fraternity and the University wa Johnny Hite of Leesville. Johnn had earlier been selected as one o the top ten graduating seniors a USC and was named to Who Who in American Colleges an Universities. She was selected t at the recent Sigma Chi Sweet, heart weekend in Charleston. n It was in the spring of 1911 that two freshmen at Albion College, s Byron D. Stokes, and F. Dud leigh Vernor, wrote the words ai,d music for a song they called "The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi." The a song made a hit with their fra - ternity brothers, and requests for copies were ordered from other chapters. Within a few years the O song and lyrics had become fa miliar to people around the world. Alpha Tau Omega t ATO named Scottie Shanklin, a senior at Columbia College, their new sweetheart. Charles Ray Flynn, and Jim Mulli gan. ff Pi Kappa Alpha e At their annual Dream Girl Ball, held Friday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Pi Kappa Alpha crowned Carolina freshman Pam Tovey Dream Girl for 1965-66i. Miss Tovey, a Charleston resi dent, is the current Miss Charles ton and the reigning South Caro lina Peach Queen. She will repre sent her home city this summer in the Miss South Carolina contest. Also recognized at the party were PiKA Outstanding Seniors. Fred Davis and Henry Sanders; Outstanding Pledges, Ed Bond and Jim Detwiler; Outgoing President, Sterling Laney; Inconi ing President, Larry Weldon; Student Body President, Jim Graves; and first runner-up for the national Outstanding PiKA award, Keith Elliot.
