BlockCH< Scrimmag Spring football practice at USC. reaches its high point Fri day night with the annual Block C Club intra-squad game in Caro lina Stadium. Kickoff time is 8 P.M., with proceeds from ticket sales going to the Block C Club, the Univer sity's organization of letterman athletes. Admission is $1.01. per person with the Block C Club giv ing away a 1965 automobile (Ford Mustang) through a drawing of ticket stubs. Coach Marvin Bass planned to practice five days this week, Monday through Friday, with the intra-squad game Friday night being the fifth workout. This would raise the total number of practices since spring drills began to 16, leaving four more sessions for next week. Bass expressed pleasure over results of last Saturday's scrim mage. and, after studying films. had particular praise for offen tive tackle Bob Collins, a rising senior from Abbeville, S. C. "Collins really did a fine job," Zing int in anem If you've been si your kind of car at just your kinm Chevrolet. Itl's a bigger, beautiful car this year. The Macon, Ga., sophomore who stars as a halfback for Coach Marvin Bass' football Gamecocks in the fall, has been one of three lefthandeo pitchers who have been the mainstays of Coach Bob Reis ing's baseball pitching staff this spring. Bryant has taken his regular turn on the mound despite a February operation to correct an old high school injury in his right wrist. The wrist will be in a cast until late May. Bryant has pitched 391/3 in 11noL:;, including two complete gamies and one shutout, and has a :3-1 record with a 2.52 earned run ildsSpring e Tonight Bass said. "If he continues to block like that, he'll help us a lot." Collins, tallest Gamecock at 6-6, is a 234-pound two-year letterman. Two Gamecock regulars-quar terback Jim Rogers and end Bill Dickens -aggravated injuries in the scrimmage and may be out for the intra-squad game. Rogers pulled a muscle attachment in a knee and Dickens tore ligaments in his right ankle. Quarterback Ted Wingard, re i n j u r e d his already bruished shoulder, but may be ready to go by Friday. The injuries to Rog ers and Wingard and the absence of Mike Fair, who was away with the freshman baseball team, left the Gamecocks with only one able bodied quarterback-rising sopho more Ben Garnto-at the end of Saturday's scrimmage. G a i n t o . a 5-11, 193-pound "scrambler" from Columbus, Ga., was again impressive, especially with his running, leading Bass to comment, "Garnto looks better every time we see him. lie's go imir to have to play somewhere." 0~ SP o spring I Chevrolet '65 Chctcrc e '6 tting tight waiting r, with just your kind ol f of price -wait no lons more Chevy H.
