All winter long cold weather kept the benches bare, but now the boys are back and the front of the Russell House sees plenty of activity. Now that it is Spring, sun glasses, tennis shoes, and sun burned faces pass for inspection. Bright, interesting colors pass in stead of the dark, staid winter hues. With Spring comes Bermuda shorts, ready for outdoor living. Long sleeve shirts and sweaters are traded for cool comfort. Spring Clothes-Minded Get Closet Clef Just because you've left your home up in Fish Creek, S. C., to become an independent dormitory resident doesn't relieve you of all the Spring housecleaning obliga tions of the season. Unless you plan to tackle the forthcoming 90-plus temperature rises in wool socks and a ski sweater, plan your campua closet clean-out campaign and time for the cotton come-back. Here are some tips to produce and prevent the right and wrong (respectively) results: First, check as you go along: Do the shoulders of your suit or dress fit comfortably? Or have you gained so much weight that in order for them to feel right must you assume an un natural posture? If you're a woman, does the waist seam hit at your precise waistline (as suming you aren't wearing a shift), or is it an inch too far up or down? If you're wearing a jacket, does it feel baggy, or, draggy at the armholes or hang unevenly? If you have any of these poise destroying symptoms, stop making explanations and , start making alterations. The close-up. To look your best while talking to a friend, in class, or on the Russell House ramp, ask yourself these ques tions: If you're a man, does your coat collar hug the back of your neck -yet not hide your shirt? Are you sure no linings are exposed? Are lapels evenly rolled-not creased-to the top button? There should be no impressions behind buttons, over seams, p)ock ets, or flaps. For women's clothes, there should be no sharp creases except pleats, and they should hang straight. Rolled pleats should be finished s o f t 1 y. not crIeasedl. Gathers andl tucks should also be finished softly. Hemlines should be straight and even. Linings shouldn't show. If you wish to have a two or three piece suit cleaned, have all the pieces cleaned together.
