Twventy years ago at Carolina, in the "Gamecock" of April Fool's Day, 1942, the big news was the State Track Meet that afternoon in Clinton. The Gamecock cinder men were favored in view of their 71-60 dual-meet smashing of a strong Clemson squad. Dr. J. T. Penney, nowv President of the Atlantic Coast Conference, was then in his first year of coaching the tracksters, and had as his scoring stalwarts Mac Riley in the dashes and Joe Krivo nak, weight man, both state rec ord holders.
