Dear Mama Mack C. BY ORIN ANDERSON Dear Mama, Everything here has just about quieted down now that Easter and Spring Vacations are over. That is, just about. I'm was certainly enjoyed my self to be home for part of Eas ter. It shore was good to see the people that live around dear old Memnaw Bottom is alive and kick ing. Especially old Quarentine Slogan. Yes it was very good to see old Quarentine. You know, Mama, I just noticed something about that girl. Do you remember the way Quarentine u4ed to resemble her fathers old mule Matilda? Well, ever since she shaved her sideburns and started wearing something besides that old Finch's Fertilizer Sack that she always slopped the hogs ' in, she come closer to looking like a human being than that stature in the park of grant riding his horse. (A loyal Southerner NEVER capitalizes the "g" in "grant") I might add that she seems to have tooken on a more "desireable" odor, too. Yes, I might add that. Well, anyway, she shore were a N%I JAMES L 4 '. Wist 1.EyolaTh Enjoys E sight for sore eyes. Mama, do you remember me telling you about the number of boys in the Fraternity? Well last time I wrote, I ran out of paper before I could finish telling you everything that I started to. You see, like I said, there is 301 members in the select group of finely polished young mens that are a part of Sigma Omega Beta, and so of course, some dif ficultys arrizes. Like parties. Big Party Now, when we throws a big party (like "Welcome back from the Hospital Bob St. John Parties" and "We are So Glad To See You Made It Back Home From Siberia Larry Clarkson and Freddie Pugh Parties") the whole fraternity comes, cause it a big event. But when we have a little party (like "Founders Day") Not all the boys can come, so we arrange the boys alphabetically, and the "A's" through the "L's" flip a coins with the "M's" through the "Z's" to see who gets to celebrate. The losers usually trot on down to the "Hoffbrau" to get in a little extra studying. IAT'S GOING ON, ON CAMPUS? 'ANTI-LEGS THTS WHAT! What's going on girls in every college in the. country? C. aster At Which reminds me, I bet you wonder why we spend so much time studying at the "Hoffbrau." I guess you could say its just "that old thirst for knowledge"! Ah well, I guess. Other Frats You know something, Mama, We (Sigma Omega Beta) is always drawing ridicule from Alpha Sigma Sigma and the other odd-ball frats who always laugh and say its rediculous to be in Sigma Omega Beta, cause there is so many more PIledges than Actives. Well, we put it in front of the pledges at their last meeting, and Us actives asked them what they thought of it. Well they got mad and threw all both of us into the shower! That in itself is not so bad, but its Hell when the Actives have to play the Pledges in Football. Oh boy, old Ray (lone come up with a good one this time. We was sitting around the old Frat house after the annual "Columbus Dis covered America Party" and we was discussing the fine job the, "Cocky" YE SUIMT r (r AS -$Onit 01*Wi up front thai R-BLEND and only i cos specially selected lavor in filter smoking. Memnau U. of S. C. Debate team was doing this year, when Ray popped up in his usual monotone, "Yeh ... I tried out for ....the De bate Team, but they said I was too tall!" Ray shore is crazy. Well, my new-found-frien Danny Rowe is back from his Spring vacations in the Congo. He tells me everything is going pretty cool and if nothing goes wrong, that we can expect a national crisis any day now. It have always given me an immense sense of security to know that we live in such a peaceful World. Mama, now that I have been in college for close on to eight months now, I have been acquiring alots of knowledge. Just ask me. Dr. Chowen Guess What? I saw old Dr. Chowen the other (lay. le still as happy as always. Yeh (I think he's happy cause I ain't taking History 11 anymore) le asked me how I was getting along and By Rosemary Hankins K" 7 h)out Viso2a t mdsncill i Bottom what ever happeled to "that Furd reature."' ~Wel, I told him. Yes, I di(d. I told him that, the last I heard old Chunkie was oin his way over seas in search of knowledge. Ife laughed til t hie tears rolled down his face. lie shore a happy man. Well, I guwss I vot to ine moving along, I got to run111 down to the fraternity house and check out how the new project is coming. The new project is "(lan Air Week," which is a thing we have sOrely needed for 1mny moons. Cigarette Wrappers You see. they just, had this cam pius-wide contitst sponlsored by soMe Cigarette company. The frat that smoked the most cigarette and collected the Iost cigar-tt wrappers, and non-filtered "Co manches" (You know. "N(lcom A broad"- and we did) counts two! points and so for about two weeks we would smoke ourselves si k trying to get enough wrappers to win that Stereo Set. But, it was to no avail. It seems some fraternity got ahold of a printing press and run off a couple of thousand wrappers before old Ray discovered they was using it and blackmailed them into letting him try his favorite hobby. (1Print ing pictures of Alexander 1lamii ton1 on a lovely green background). Ray is so talented. Well, so long. I got to go sink imly teeth into Smile of that "culi- I nary art" that they ,erve in tle Russell House. f Bye now, Your loving son, Mack C. Twirls seen. Heard.
