MANSAS 0'. .ca, Camder Ex-Librarian One Author Of Old Book By LAR, v MAY Feature Editor Interesting, intellectual, im portant, captivates the "Histor ic Camden" exhibit by T. J. Kirkland and R. M. Kennedy now on display in South Caro liniana Library. Kirkland and Kennedy, both well known Camden natives, gathered information from many sources including docenents, bills, pictures, and compiled them into two books under the same title, "Historic Camden." Two Part Book The books (part one, Colonial Revolution and part ,wo, 19th Century), features many old parts of Camden, much about the war of 181.2, and LaFayette's visit. Names of men who fought in the wars are listed. Family histories, and certain informa tion of localities, as churches and homes are interesting to the reader. The exhibit includes both books and reveals items such as a letter of Gov. William Bull which was written on March 1, 1766, to a merchant at "Pine tree Hill," regarding financial matters with the Catawba In dians. Also, bills of Dr. E. H. Ander son, and Dr. John McCaa con cerning -treatment of slaves dur ing 1817.
