Interesting, intellectual, im
portant, captivates the "Histor
ic Camden" exhibit by T. J.
Kirkland and R. M. Kennedy
now on display in South Caro
liniana Library.
Kirkland and Kennedy, both
well known Camden natives,
gathered information from many
sources including docenents,
bills, pictures, and compiled
them into two books under the
same title, "Historic Camden."
Two Part Book
The books (part one, Colonial
Revolution and part ,wo, 19th
Century), features many old
parts of Camden, much about
the war of 181.2, and LaFayette's
visit. Names of men who fought
in the wars are listed. Family
histories, and certain informa
tion of localities, as churches
and homes are interesting to the
reader.
The exhibit includes both
books and reveals items such as
a letter of Gov. William Bull
which was written on March 1,
1766, to a merchant at "Pine
tree Hill," regarding financial
matters with the Catawba In
dians.
Also, bills of Dr. E. H. Ander
son, and Dr. John McCaa con
cerning -treatment of slaves dur
ing 1817.
Painting and Account
