SPE SPONSORED Founder" Mrs. Eugene Saule for Eugene Sauls, president Carolyn Hllman for Bobby Able, historian Tyroliers Were Second In Series A varied program of some 40 selections were presented in the University Field House Wednes day at 8:30 p. m. by the Gay Tyroliers, a company of singers, dancers and musicians from the Austrian Tyrol. The concert was the second of the Artists' Series. Unique in their field, the Tyrol iers come from the picturesque old town of Kitzbuhel in the Brixer Valley. Their program is a display of native culture which is handed down from generation to generation. Songs, dances, yodelling and in strumental selections comprised the program which the Tyroliers presented during their Artists' Series appearance. Many of the songs and dances are influenced by the work of the Tyrolean peasants, such as the cow-milking song and the wood cutters' dance. The banquet will be held in Russell House Auditorium at 6 p. m. Preceeding there will be a drop-in at 5 p. m. in the lounge of the fraternity house. The drop in sponsored by the fraternity's Mothers and Wives Club will al low the brothers and alumii to get well acquainted. Following the banquet there will be a semi-formal dance at Jefferson Hotel uatil 12 p. m. Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded November 1901, at Richmond Col lege, Virginia. There were twelve charter members; within a year two mor- chapters had been es tablished. Now, almost sixty years later, there are well over fifty thousand brothers through out the world, almost a hundred and fifty active chapters and as sociations across the country. In number of chapters SPE is the second largest fraternity in the world. The Senior Sponsors and the Carolina student body cheered our team on to a great victory over Clemson and celebrated at the Kappa Alpha tea dance afterward. After the game and parties many took off for the beach, home or other colleges. Some traveled to Greenville to watch Citadel beat Furman later in the weekend. All in all happy reports of "fabulous" weekends were given. Cilla Jones and "Trisha" Usher and Fjeida Stokes visited Davidson. Alice Finch went up to Wake Forest., Jane Bopp and Bob Washnok went to Clemson. George Leventis spent the weekend at Chapel Hill. SPORTS CAR RALLY A sports car rally was held last Sunday with many Caro lina students participating. A scenic tour of Columbia's many roads was enjoyed by Sara "Butch" Lewis, Bill Rooney, Charlie Simons and many others.
