JOAN SIMPSON, K D, now working in Florence, was up for the game on Saturday with BUBBER GODFREY, K A. K D, BETTY MOORE, came up from Winnsboro for the Furman-Carolina game. Sigma Nu's had a party following the Furman game in hopor of CHIC MARTIN, K D, who was an attendant for the Homecoming Queen. JERRY BLACKMON said the affair was held at the Pinewood Club. What we can't figure out is whether some ingenious young prankster tried to use it as a refrigerator, or whether it gushed out from natural causes, whatever they would be. Sorority Rush Week Scheduled By Panhellenic The delfinite dates for coed rush week will be Sunday, November 11, through Friday, November 16. Routine teas will be held Sunday and Monday; and preferential parties will be Tuesday, Wednes day, and Thursday. From 9 p. in. Thursday until a choice is made by the rushee in Dean Child's office Friday, a rushee will not converse with anyone about sororities. The last date which a sorority girl may visit a non-sorority girl planning to go through rush week is Saturday, October 27. This rul ing applies to alumna connected with an alumna chapter. Coeds who would like to attend rush week will register in the post office lobby, Wednesday, Novem ber 7. At that time they will re ceive a scholarship card to be com pleted by their professors and turned in to Dean Childs' office by the rushee by noon Saturday, November 10. A scholarship com mittee of Panhellenic will deter mine the rushee's average and notify the rushee, if she is ineligi ble for rushing. A notice of the routine parties will be placed on the bulletin board in Sims which will tell the rushee which sororities she is to visit Sun day and Monday. A rushee must at tend the routine party when she is scheduled to, or notify the presi dent of Panhellenic in advance that she will be unable to. If she fails to attend one of the routine teas without notifying the president, she will be dropped from rush week. Thursday, November 8, Dean Childs will speak to the rushees in Euphradian Hall on the third floor of Harper. Each sorority president will tell the rushees something of her sorority. Any questions in regard to rush week should be asked a member of Panhellenic Council. ZTA To Celebrate Founders Day Founders' Day will be celebrated October 15 by the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. They will have a special service at 7:30 a. m. in the Zeta sorority room commemorating this occasion. On this same date in 1898, Virginia State Normal Col lege installed the ZTA. It has con tinued to grow and expand until now it has eighty-seven chapters. It is an international sorority and has a branch in Canada. Dela Louise Hundley, one of the first na tional founders, passed away last July. Delta Sigma Pi Has Rush Dinner The Beta Gamma chapter of the international fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi presented a dinner at the Market Restaurant Wednesday, October 3 for seven prospective members. Besides the rushees, spe cial guests included Delta Sig alumni ~ William Stallings, Roy Weeks, and Bob Lanford, and vis itor Warren Reich. Reich, now at Fort Jackson, is a Delta Sig from Alpha chapter at New York Uni versity, where the fraternity was founded in 107. The following Friday, the chap ter pledged Albert Morgan, Car thelle Courtney, Boyd O'Neil, and John Williams. John Evans, Charles Stephens, and Richard Cuibreth ar;: also pledged, being carried over in pledgeship from last May. The fraternity still has a charter on the campus; and steps have been taken through the na tional offices of the fraternity and through the IFC to allow it to resume its activity. A club, sponsored by the Alumni Association of the fraternity, has been started to allow the prospec tive members of the fraternity to become pledged as soon as the proper steps have been taken. It is hoped by the club and the Alumni Association that the re quired number of members can be initiated by the first of the year to activate the chapter. The temporary officers elected by the club are: Don Johnson, president; John Rich, vice-presi dent; Rudy Thigpin, secretary: Calhoun Turner, treasurer; and Roy Haymonda historian. recreation hall and not in the wards. The purpose of the visit was to get to know the theater men of Columbia better, to get out and meet people, create a better under standing of the motion picture in dustry, and continue to give great er and better pictures. The tour is celebrating the fiftieth anni versary of the motion picture in dustry, and is under the sponsor ship of "Compa" Counsel of Mo tion Picture Association. Craig Hill cited some of the mis understandings concerning Holly wood as the divorce rate and the amount of communism. According to his statement, the divprce rate for the nation is forty per cent and the rate for Hollywood is only thirty. The curtain, and drapes will be hung in the lobby and music room to replace the ones put there 12 years ago when the dormitory was built. Lucky Jeanne Crainel Parrish Gives Joint Blue Key Dance Plans David Parrish, president of the Carolina fraternity of Blue Key re ported plans made at a recent joint meeting with Clemson Blue Key for the third annual Clemson-Carolina pregame dance. A Clemson band, the Jungaleers, will provide music for the dance, which is held for the purpose of bettering relationships between the two schools. The loca tion will be the armory. It has not been determined whether the time will be from nine until one or ten until oile.
