Reactivation
Inactive since 1938, the South
Carolina Alpha chapter of Sigma
Phi Epsilon is making a bid to
again become active on the USC
campus. The fraternity still has a
charter on the campus; and steps
have been taken through the na

A club, sponsored by the Alumni
Association of the fraternity, has
been started to allow the prospec

become pledged as soon as the
proper steps have been taken. It
is hoped by the club and the

Movie Time
Actors To C
In connection with "Movie Time,
USA" Craig Hill, Fox; Penny Ed
wards, Republic; Lori Nelson, Uni
versal; and Isabel Dawn, writer at
Fox, were in Columbia Monday.
The purpose of the visit was to
get to know the theater men of
Columbia better, to get out and
meet people, create a better under
standing of the motion picture in
dustry, and continue to give great
er and better pictures. The tour
is celebrating the fiftieth anni
versary of the motion picture in
dustry, and is under the sponsor
ship of "Compa" Counsel of Mo
tion Picture Association.
Craig Hill cited some of the mis
understandings concerning Holly
wood as the divorce rate and the
amount of communism. According
to his statement, the divprce rate
for the nation is forty per cent and
the rate for Hollywood is only
thirty. For at least ten years the
people connected with the motion
picture industry have had no trend

Mr. Hill stated that the idea that
TV was going to close theaters and
make paupers of. actors was ludi
crous. In fact the number of the

in the last year, not considering the
3,500 "drive-ins" built since the
war. The "drive-in," the most
revolutionary idea to hit the mo

greatest season for the past three "
or four years.
Miss Edwards and Miss Nelson

both very beautiful blondes. Miss
Nelson wrote about the South in
