City Councilman Bates Addresses Jr.-Sr. 'Y' Council City councilman Lester L. Bates addressed a recent meeting of the junior-senior YM-YWCA council at Flinn hall. He spoke on "Success by Choice." "Little do we realize," Bates said, "that an individual is primarily responsible for his success through the choices he makes. To be truly successful, cycry life must choose: first, to serve God; second, to serve others. "Not only does the lasting suc cess of an individual depend upon his choice to serve God but the very survival of our nation depends upon its faith in God. We must supplement our force with faith. The security of our great country does not depend so much upon our material strength, as it does upon the faith, intelligence and moral fortitude of our people." In conclusion Bates listed the real methods of testing a person's success. "Is he a person of Godli ness as well as goodness; of char acter as well as knowledge, and of service to others as well as satjs faction' to self?"
