Lloyd Huntington, Sports Editor Jimmy Howie Dick Dunlap Al Gibert Tom Price Bill Kaufman Fowl Or Fair 6y Lloyd Huntington THE CITADEL PROTEST A number of students have vehemently voiced protest at the $8.00 price being charged to students for admission to the Carolina-Citadel game in Charleston, December 3. The ticket office here says that in communiques with the Citadel athletic officials that office advises them that the price is set and that The Citadel cannot do anything about it at-this late date.. Students tickets have always been an accepted part of this game In the years when it was played at Orangeburg but after a year's lapse, the garhe moves to Charleston and stu dent tickets are tossed out of the window with no reason for such action given. This at first seems presumptuous on the Citadel's.part but this thing of leaving the students out in the cold isn't really anything new. Maryland, in the game with the Gamecocks several weeks ago, did not send student tickets to the university. And strangely enough, North Carolina wouldn't even accept stu dent tickets for their followers when the ticket office here offered such tickets to them. . Georgia Tech of course did see some reason for letting visiting students in at a reduced price. That is, if you got your ticket before Wednesday. If you wait until game time to buy one it will soak you $3.00. From the action of teams mentioned above it doesn't seem that The Citadel is unique in refusing tickets at reduced prices. However, they have made a couple of concessions. The tickets sent here are between the 40 and 50 yard lines. If you want to save 40 cents wait until you get to Charleston to purchase a ticket. They have tickets up to the 5-yard line for $2.60. Besides The Citadel has promised that they would provide student tickets for us next year. A NOTE ON TRAINING Intramural football starts within the next couple of weeks, so a word about training might be in order. But since all of the old rules have been set forth a thousand or so times it will probably be better to illustrate the importance of clean liv ing with this story. Several years ago Duke University's boxing team was scheduled for a match in Charl6tte. There happened to be somewhat of a greenhorn on the Duke team who paid little attention to diets and such stuff in connection with his physical fitness. Before the fight in Charlotte this fellow went into one of the Charlotte restaurants and ate a huge hamburger, downed a milk shake or so and ate various other items. The fight sarted aid this young boxer wvent out, to get hSAn. Before long his opponent tapped him in the stomach a few times and the Duke boxer became violently ill. In fact he was so sick for a while he didn't know much of anything except he was certain that he was going to die. Well, he finished the fight and he didn't die. In fact he lived to come to the. University here as present head of the News Service and a professor of Journalism. So if you want a few tips on training see Mr. Bob Cranford over at the News Service, who trained on raw eggs the rest of his boxing days at Duke.
