You know I've been promising 4 you some poems or jokes all year but just haven't gotten on the ball yet. Well-the time has come! I mean to tell you-news for this column is as scarce as hen's teeth to day, so we'll fill in with a whole lot of nonsense. Say did you ever hear this one? Last night I sat upon a chair A little chair that wasn't there, It wasn't there again today But I can't sit down anyway! Pretty cute, eh? (ugh). Here's one that will really kill you. I had a little dog named Dofi, I bought him when he pas a little wup, I taught him to stand on his little lind hegs, And hold his little lunt fregs up, He flatches his little screas and says "Wow-Bow!" I guess that's about all you can stand right now, so I'll give with the news, (what there is of, it). SAE's and Sigma Nus are getting some pretty stiff workouts for their "Punch Bowl" game to be played De cember 11. SAE's have engaged the services of the former Tri Delt coaches, Hal Middlebrooks and Will Harvin. Sigma Nus are going through the workouts with Joe Pa trone, ex Pi Phi coach. These boys just can't let the girls ahead of them! Not when it comes to football, anyhow. SAE's are taking time off from their strenuous football training to have a party on Thanksgiving Eve. KA pledges entertained the actives and visitors at Mac Winter's after the Carolina-Duke football game. Sigma Nu pledges gave the actives a party at the Ameri *can Legion Hut in Maxcy Gregg Park Saturday night. A big time was had by all. ATO's are having a party tonight at Jimmy Milling's home. I understand it's going to be something a little dif ferent this time, an oyster roast. Lambda Chi's had two visitors last week-end, Gus Postal and Walter Miers. Their traveling secretary, Doyle Mor gan, was here with them, too. The whole chapter went up to Wofford to help with initiation and to help reorganize the Wofford chapter. Pi Lambda Phis had a bowling party last Friday night after which they adjourned to the home of one of their dates for refreshments. Chi Omegas had a drop-in for their new pledges Friday night and a coffee in their honor Sunday night. Tri Deltas had a get-together with their new pledges Friday night immediately after they were notified. ZTAs had a pledge breakfast ' unday morning at the Jefferson Hotel after which the: all went to church to * gether. The t idea of the Freshman "Y" Council z is to try to make the lives of a c number of children at the Home a a little brighter throughout the year by means of visits and per sonal contacts-things like an oc- t casional "funny book," a movie, or a trip to the drug store for an ice cream cone. So far, 58 children, 18 girls and 40 boys, have definite "big sisters or brothers" on the Fresh- t man Council. One party has al- I ready been held for the entire group, and the individual contacts have been numerous. The big plans now revolve around the planned Christmas party. Special committees are already at work on various phases of the party which is to be held at Flinn Hall on December 16.
