L was the first Homecoming since 341. The traditional Homecoming Day uncheon was not scheduled be ause of food problems and the dif iculties of serving meals for large rowds. There were no formal lumni exercises, these being re eived for the oig postwar reunion, ut decorated students quarters, igns welcoming the alumni back o the campus, and a number of vents added color to Homecoming )ay and to the last game of the eason. PEP RALLY Homecoming festivities began -'riday night, November 29, with t big student pep rally in the Field louse, featured by boxing bouts md tumbling acts. Arrangements or the rally were in charge of he Boosters Club. Former students registered in he Alumni Office and visitea points of interest on the campus iaturday morning. The Alumni council held a short meeting, and ad lunch in the University high chool cafeteria at noon, with 1ers. N'orman M. Smith as guest. PROGRAM AT GAME The program at the game In 1luded an address of welcome to the alumni by President Smith, the presentation of the Homecoming Queen, Miss LeClair Anderson, and her court, the crowning of the queen by Alumni Pres. Edwin R. Jeter, and the saiute to the queen by the Naval ROTC band and the Carolina Corsairs, crack drill pla toon. STUDENT BODY DROP-IN Immediately after the game the Student Body gave an informal drop-In at Sims College, handled by the Independents in collabora tion with the sororities. Acting as hosts and hostesses at the drop-in, in addition to co-eds, were Admiral and Mrs. Smith, Dean Arney R. Childs, Dean Francis W. Bradley, Dean and Mrs. John A. Chase, Mrs. James B. Galloway, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis, Mrs. William C. Abel, and Mrs. Edward K. Butler, Jr., who was Homecoming Queen in 1941. HOMECOMING DANCE The lomecoming Day program was climaxed by an informal tea lance In the Field House Saturday night, attended by alumni, stu :lents and faculty members. The Ilomecoming dance was given by the Alumni Association and ar rangements for the affaIr were made by Kappa Sigma Kappa. Walter hlartz acted as chairman of he dance committee. AWARDS SAE Fraternity won an award ::iven by the Boosters club for the nest fraternity banner. Pi Beta Phi son a cup awarded by the Pan Ilellenic for the hest decorated so rority quarters, and SAE won a 'up given by the Inter-Fraternity Council for the best deco-ated f ma ernity quarters.
