The request would iequire an appI o printion of $3.957.667 from the general Assembly, the remainder to be granted by the federal gov ernment. The request has hen subdivided inlo three general categovies. The sum of $938,)0 is is to be ap piopriated for the purchase of ap proximately 21 additional acres of land to be used for the construc tion of new buildings. Repairs to the present plant and et(utipilent ate calculaled "o absoitb $700,000. of these linds $75.000 will go toward the fiieprooling and re miodling of LeConte College, uni ver-sitv science buildiing. The te modliing of the Gymnasium for the use of Ilie Extension Division Is assigned to cost $100,000. Stew ard's Hall, now being used by the NROTC unit as t mess mll, wiln be reconsitrutcted to accomodate maried veterans and their wives. Ai allotment of $2,.000 has ben made for this project. The reno vation of old dormitores, the pres ent chapel and classrooms is set at $500,000. The remniinder of the fund is to be used in tle construction of new buildings and the appropriation of additional eqitpment. Members of the budget comiis sion visited the USC campus to cay. They were taken on a tour which included inspection of the present infirmary facilities. The comnmittee is composed of Gov. Ransone J. Williams, S e n a t o r Edgar Brown, chairman senate li nance committee. Morrison Tuten, chairman louse Ways and Means committee. and ,1. M. Smith, secre tary of the budget commniission. The commission is expected to submit its recoimenidations to the Ways and Means Committee some timie in Decenher. From there the bill will go to the louse of Repre senitatives.
