Won't we have fun!!" LADIES FIRST ... With the end of rush week came the many new pledgeQ showing their new pledge pins as proof of their vows t< their new sisterhoods. . . . Kappa Delta leads the list with twenty-five new girls; Alpha Delta Pi tapped eight new members; Alpha Epsilom Phi have ten added to their roll Chi Omega has twenty; Delta Delta Delta has a score of fourteen; Delta Zeta boasts thirteen new girls; Pi Beta Ph brought their score up to fifteen; and Zeta Tau Alp/u pledged twenty-one. Sara Malone, one of the Pi Beta Phi alums was on the campus paying a visit to all the Pi Phis and everybody else on the campus.... And Pi Phi Dottie Perkins attended th( Assembly Rail in Florence. . . . Delta Zeta pledging was Fri day afternoon and after the ceremonies the Dee Zee active, gave forth with a party to welcome these girls into theii midst. . . . Sunday afternoon the Delta Zeta girls honored the new members of their "heap-big" family with a Drop-ir Party Sunday night in the Dee Zee room in Sims. Their ne%v actives are Jean Via, Vivian Pounds, Margaret Smithey Cathy Garety, and Liza Day. The new wearers of the Lami were initiated November 30. The Zeta Tau Alpha sisters had their pledging Monday afternoon in the sorority room in Maxcy. . . . And all the ZTAs and their dates journeyed ou to "Lib" Foster's hom< last Sunday afternoon to a delightful Drop-in. . . . Ch Omega had pledging ceremonies Sunday night and latei many of the old and new friends dropped in for a chat. . . The motheits of the Columbia Alpha Delta Pis gave a Drop-I, for all the sisters at Barbara [Irasington's home. . . . ADP pledging was Monday afternoon. . . Delta Delta Delta held their formal pledging in the sorority room in Sims Monday afternoon. Margaret Smithey, new DZ active, can be seen sporting Wayne Tye's Sigma Chi pin these days. MEN ONLY The Lambdi Chi brothers partied at the American Legion Hut last weekend. . . . And Lambdi Chis Frariklin Hines anc Walter Myers attended the Christmas formal at Coker Col lege December 8. . . . KA Festivity Is Big Campus Holiday Event Highlighting the mid-winter so cial whirl at Carolina was the Kap pa Alpha fraternity Christmas for mal last Friday night Dec. 14. ;n the ballroom of the Hotel Colum bia. Roy Neal and his University orchestra played for the hundreds of students who were present at the first dance of the fall term. The ballrc>rn was decorated with Kappa Alpha colors, red and gold, with holly and mistletoe bordering the bandstand and colored spot lights furnishing the light. On the backdrop of the bandstand% was the fraternity name in tall gold letters and in the front of the stand was the KA badge. At one end of the room was a large lighted Pnd dec orated Christmans tree surrounded by a white pirket fence. During the leadout headed b.x of ficers and their sponsors who ear ried bouquets of American B3eaauty roses tied with red ribbon, the fra Lernity membiers selected tromi un ler- the trtee a gold p)endent enerust ed with the KA crest and presented it to t hitr dates. Children from 2 to 12 years of age were present. Gifts to all of the chlre were distributed by Jerry Meachan who acted as "Santa Clnus". Christmas carols were sung by the entire group. The Sophomore Y boys were in charge of decorations for the party. Orphans Given Holiday Party In Flinn Hall A Christmas party for 24 Negro chidren from the Wilkerson Or. phanage was given by the Coed As sociation Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock in Flinn Hall. The children were from 7 to 15 years old. Joe Siedeman was in charge of the pror-am which consLted of musical games and race games. There were a cocoanut race and a cracker eating contest, and pri7-s were given. Christmas carols were sung by the whole group and quar tet numbers were given by the orphanage children. Each ch:ld received a present from under the Christmas tree and a stocking full of candy, fruit and nuts, and a dollar bill. Money for the presents was donated by mem bers of Coed. Refreshments of Ice cream, frosted cakes, and pop corn were served. The children came to the Unt versity by a chartered bus. Doris Schumucker was in charge of the party.
