CO-E D T O "16 INCHES" By Martha Halliwanger NEW AT THE TYPEWRITER ... Welcome back to Carolina for another season of school and here's wishing for all of you students a most successful and happy semester. After deep consideration, and, I assure you, with the cooperative spirit of all the Gamecock staff, we have made the grave decision of moving "The' Corner" to "Six teen Inches" (of space). With most of the girls back there shouldn't be such a dull time of it for all these uniforms that so recently made their appearance on the campus. And now * I can settle down to the 'ole typewriter and go in search of a little gossip-after all, aren't we here for an education? By the way, the Post Office just informed me that I have sole ownership of BOX 716 . .. so, please make use of it! MEN, MEN, MEN... FraternityRushing Returns to Pre-War System At the last meeting of the semes let the Inter-Fraternity Council set up the rushing rules for this sea son. The ptirpose behind the new rules is to ettirn the rush season to the same program that was fol lowed before the exigencies of war created a new system. ITnder the new program, each fraternity will be alilowedl to hold three rush parties before mid semester. These parties may take any form desired by the respective groups. At the time officially set for nidc-semester each fraternity will submit bids for the rushees that it desires to pledge to Mr. Garrett. After receiving these hids, he will (call al meeting fot all of the rusheen and they will make heir choice known. Mr. Garrett will then inform the ft aternit ies and they will pledge those who have accepted their bids. Part of this progirm was incor porated in the rules for rush sea son last semester. The bids were handled as provided for in the new ruiles. Mluch t he same program ean ied out hefote t he war forced the fra ternities to use a different system becautse of the scarcity' of time for the Naval trainees.
