Jo Alice will be her maid of ho In the first race Thursday, LeCla MicMillan, and Betty McCreight Professors, Students Urged to Use -Film Aids Audio-Visual Aids Bureau Offers Variety of Choice - The Audio-Visual Aids Bureau, Which is connected with the Exten sion Division of the University is urging more use of their facilities by professors and students of Car olina. The bureau is equipped with a complete film library, as well as recordings and slides covering a Wide variety of subjects. The bureau equipment also in cludes a dark room suitable. for the showing of films in its offices In Wardlaw College, the University Iligh School. Professors wishing to use this room to show films to their classes may get in touch wtih the bureau and arrange a time for their showing. Films are also shown in class rooms if the professors so Wish It. Included in the bureau's files are 39 recordings for the teaching of Spanish in an interesting way. These are offered for leginners and first. year Spanish. Also on file are .13 recordings in German teaching, and many French records, films, and sound tracks. For history and current events classes the bureau offers a series entitled "L.,est We Forget." Also in eluded are "Dcmocracy is Our Way of Life," "Our Constitution," and "A Better World For Youth." They were picked by the judges at the annual Beauty Pageant Wednesday night as Carolina's three most beautiful girls from 23 contestants. In Wednesday's election, the vote stood Anderson, 109; McCreight, 232, and McMillan, 308. LeClaire was eliminated, and the run-over was between the other two. Plans for a Coronation Ball, which was not given last year, are being advanced by the fraternity. Bill Prigge, chairman of this com mittee, said that if a hotel ballroom and an orchestra could be obtained, the ball would be held on the night of the coronation, with the May Queen as guest of honor. The Queen has already chosen the beauties to attend her. Movies to Be Purchased By Extension Division The Extension Division is plan nihg a series of films on vocational guidance, which will be used in the public schools of South Caro lina, and will be shown to fresh men and sophomores at the Uni versity, to assist students in making a choice in vocations and profes sions. These films will arrive soon, and will be available to any pro fessors or groups who wish to use them. The Extension Division also is planning to hold institutes in au dio-visual aids instructions in sev eral colleges throughout South Car olina during their summer school sessions. All colleges are showing a gratifying amount of co-opera tion with the Extension Division, and the dates have been set for the holding of these institutes at Coker College and Furman .Univer sity. Several other colleges have also agreed to participate in the in stitutes, and dates will be set as soon as possible. School of Education to Found Graduate Centers "Quite a number of colleges and school centers are asking the school of education to establish graduate school centers, through extension, in their communities," says Dr. El lison M. Smith, head of the school of education. "WVe have had requests from Lan der, Coker, Newberry, and the Col lege of Charleston, to estab)lish these centers, and others have ex pressedl their willingness to coop erate in a statewide graduate pro gram. Hubert II. Biser, former stu dent at the University of South Carolina from Columbia, the Dis tinguished Flying Cross for extra ordinary achievement in flight. lie is aerial engineer of his bomber. "Trouble started over the target, which happened to be Vienna," said Sergeant Biser. "The flak seemed to single out our plane." One of the members of the crew noticed a liquid spray in the bomb hays, and it was thought that the gasoline cells had been punctured. Although the hom her was still in the flak area, and the' bomb-hay doors open, Sergeant 3iser hurt iod ly removed his parachute, flak suit. and oxygen mask, and climbed out into the hays to investigate tthe damage. "As I was standinig tin the 'at walk," he continued, "I noti'ed Ihat it was the hydraulic systemli that had been hit. and we e 'te losing fluid rapidly." Still without oxygen, and despite the bitter cold of high altitude. Sergeant Biser immediately went back to the waist of the plane and removed a piece of hose which was attached to the camera. lie re turned to the bomb-bays, and work ing on a slippery catwalk, using a small walk-around hot tle of oxygen, le used the hose and some clamps which he carried with him for such emergencies to patch up th hy draulic system. There was not enough fluid in the night with any rushee during rush week. 6. No sorority girl may make any reference to rushees of future meet ings. 7. No sorority girl may disparage any other sorority. 8. All rushees must return to Sims by 9:15 p.m. after every par ty. 9. Sororities may be penalzed for violations of rush rules at the dis cretion of Pan-Hlelleni- Council. Rushees committing violations will be barred from pledging. 10. Any violation of rushing reg ulations must be reported to the president of Pan-Iiellenic Council within 24 hours. 11. All parties accused of viola lations shall have a prompt hearing by the Council. 12. Sororities may be penalizec as follows: a. Cash fines ($5.00 to $50.00). b. Forced withdrawal from rush week. c.
