Wood of the Rangers pitched a superb game, fanning nine and allow ing only three hits, two of which came in the last inning and proved to be the winning margin. The game was nip and tuck all the way with each team leaving men stranded on the bases in each stanza. Wood pitched himself out of a tight spot in the fifth inning when the "Clowns" had the bases loaded with none out, and failed to score, The National League race must now be decided to see who will meet the "Clowns" in the World Series.
