PAPo 3mvp Ponig ht I.Banquet Precedes Dance; Concalve Officially Opened The first fraternity formal of the year, given by Kappa Sigma, will be danced tonight in the ballroom of the Jefferson Hotel from nine 'til one. Buster Spann and his orchestra will play. Sponsors for the dance will be; Mary King, Columbia, for Jimmy Mc Leod, president; Ann Ficken, Colum bia, for Marion Whaley, vice-presi dent; Margaret Jones, Florence, for Luther McCutcheon, secretary; Mary Black, Beaufort, for Lionelle Wells, treasurer; Barbara Angel, Richmond, Virginia, for Craig Dozier, master of ceremonies; Betty Jo Boyce, Kings tree, for Earl Fillingim, rush captain; and May Brinkley, Ellenton, for Fran cis Collins, dance committee chair man. Preceding the dance, there will be a banquet at 7:30 p. n. for all vis itors, chapter members, and their dates. The banquet will formally open the district conclave to be held December 5, 6, and 7. Kappa Sig mas -from Duke University, North Carolina State, Davidson College, University of North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Wofford are expected to be here. Outstanding visitors will be Professor L. 0. Rhea, of Wake For est who is the district grand master and Mr. W. C. Steagall, of Spartan burg, S. C., past district grand master. During the evening, there will be three no-breaks and immediately fol lowing the grand march will be the special no-break for the Kappa Sig's and their dates. "Stardust" written by I Hoagy Carmichael, Kappa Sig, will be played for the special. Robbins Presents Verse Speakers In Christmas Program The verse speaking choir of the University will present its Christmas program tonight at 8:15 in Drayton I f all. This group is under the di rection of Florence Robbins. The choir is composed of nine stu dents and is sub-divided into two sec tions, light and dark voices. Those girls who have high or light voices are: Jean Brunson, Evelyn Connor, Jean Smith and Mary Nell Sanders. The girls having dark or low voices are: Louise Bradley, Christine Cannon, Helen Philips, Vir ginia Thompson and Florence Rob bins. The program will be divided into three sectionis, the first being the Ad vent, followed by the Nativity and endling with the Epighany. Only Christmas poems will be recited by the choir. Of the eleven poems, some wvill be "Christmas Song," "No Room in the Inn," "Angel G;abriel," "Ring Out W\ild Bells." and "Summer in Winter". The high light of the pro gram will be the presentation of the Christmas Gospel according to St. Luke. Junior Damas Plans Dance For Jan. 9 Betty Marshall, President of Junior Damas, annoulncedl that the Damas (lance will be held on January 9th in the Jefferson hotel. The last meeting of Danmas was primarily a business meeting. It was decidedl to have unlimited bids, the dleadline for final bids being before Christmas vacation. At the next D)amas meeting, comn mittees will be appointed. Final plans regarding decorations, refresh. ments, no breaks, etc., will he decided on before Deccember 20th.
