Plans For USC Christian Mission Taking Form Now Student Committees To Discuss Mission At Picnic Gathering The Carolina Christian Instittute will meet Saturday, Nov. ti, for a piclnic at Heise's ponid to discuss plans for the Vniversity Christian Alsion to be held on the campus, Nov. 3to-Dec. 6, R. G. Bell, Y. M. C. A. secretary, announced yester da y. The committee of 100 Carolina students and faculty nembers will hear from sub-coiimlittees ap pointed to arrange mintite plans for the undertaking. These coin mittees have been working since school opened in September, Bell declared. The main committee will discuss and approve the work of tle sub-cominiitttes. Bell said that the meeting would decide about speakers for the week of religious emphasis. Several speakers already have accepted inl vitatiois to attend the week ami several more as yet have not re plied to letters from Bell. The Institute wants at least 12 outstanding religious speakers for tle week. Ii addition, Hell said. the committee is trying to get a few outstanlding scientists to ad dress the student body on the rela tiolihip of science and religion. Editors And E Go To Detro Paul "Scoop" Lague sick I Ilkie S Part Of Old Campus Wall Is Torn Down Arch Is Built At Pendleton Street Entrance Another section of Carolina's ancient wall is falling under the impact of WPA sledge ham mers. Another corner of the campus is undergoing change to make the new library build ing more beautiful. The corner of the wall on Pendleton St. is being demol ished to make way for an arch over the driveway leading to the side of the library. General plans for the gateway call for a curved indention in the wall, similiar to that at the front WPA entrance to Maxcy College. An arch, made from bricks taken from the wall, will span the driveway, mak ing a brick halo for the library as seen from Pendleton St. Engineering students, under the direction of R. M. Sunwalt, drew plans for the arch and have charge of the work. John A. Chase, Jr., dean of administration, declared that the arch would add greatly to the beauty of the campus.
