TPe Threats 0 Carolina Students Pay $15,000 In Activities Fees Carolina students paid in exactly $14,531.75, to the treas urer in student activities fees this year, according to a report issued by Frank Welbourne this week. Of this amount, men students paid $10,267.50, and co-eds $4,264.25. The Athletic Association claimed over half the fees, receiv ing $7,697.90; the Garnet and Black and The Gamecock came next with $1,178.25 each. Copenhaver, profes sor of chemistry at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Copenhaver received his A. B. at Emory and Henry, his M. A. at Vanderbilt, and his Ph. D. at Johns Hopkins. He holds mem bership in the American Chemical Society, the German Chemical So ciety, and is a fellow in the Ameri can Institute for the Advancement of Science. He is also a fellow in the American Institute of Chem ical Engineers. He served for three terms as secretary-treasurer of the South Carolina Academy of Science. HAWKINS During her two weeks vacation, Mrs. Hawkins attended three large re ceptions and became acquainted with the president and military dictator of Cuba. After landing in Havana, the party of winners from eighteen states was taken inland and visited several points of interest. One of the highlights of her stay was seeing her first game of Jaidai, the Cuban national ball game. The contest won by Mrs. Hawkins was sponsored by the Cuban Tourist commission.
