_ r i ===== Rat Frightens Sleepy Co-Ed Cat Saves Cracker Then Sits In Middle Of Drawe Purring Contentedly While Eating Them All was quiet in the dormitory, was after one o'clock, and a very tir< co-ed had at last stopped work and w; just dropping off to sleep, when sudden: a series of loud scratchings and tliumi ings startled her wide awake. Heavens! What on earth was thai The scratching sound was now amplific hv squeaks, and a distinct sound of nil bling. Fear changed to indignation as si realized that rats were eating crackei that she had placed in the bottom draw* of her dresser. Now this co-ed had hearty appetite, and, moreover, it ha taken weeks for her to save the dime I buy those crackers with. The idea of those rats eating up h< crackers! She bounded out of bed an went in search of a mouse trap. But wil no results. The only other co-ed awal at that time didn't have a trap. IIo\vcv< she did remember having seen a stra hungry-looking cat wandering around tl building earlier in the evening. "Kitty,, Kitty, Kitty," the two co-e< wandered around the building call in earnestly. The cat, a friendly animal, n sponded to their calls, and came sidlin around a corner. Gratefully, the girls carried her to tl drawer containing the crackers, and car* fully opened it. Out leaped an infinite! mal mouse, heading straight for a ho in the iloor. The skinny cat leaped straigl after the mouse, clutched at it?an missal. The rat escaped down the hoi "Oh, well," said the girls, "that mouse too scared to come back up here tonight, Congratulating each other, they sai "goodnight." Erects Supply Building A new supply building is being erected in the rear of Legare college to replace the old wooden building on the same site. 1 lit- building is being built with the aid of money from the Civil Works Administration. 1 he new building will house all University supplies and will remedy the chaotic conditions now facing the storing of these supplies. In the past some have been stored in the old building and the overflow has been stored in various parts of the campus. I he haphazard method used has resulted in the loss of several hundreds of dollars of propertv every year. The new building will be of brick, a story and-a-half high and will match the highway department testing bureau building directly across the driveway. u. 8. c. after the second and third readings!
