Knowing the Terpsichorean instinct which rules the legs of Hawaii, it seems sane to predict that the. new stage will t>e a stamping ground for hula hulas, and that the entire problem of cos tumes for the chorus can be solved with a bale of hay. Though not quite as "blue" as the Gamecock issue, the last edition of N. C. State's "Technician" was iledicated to Blue Ridge Conference news, an.l bore a "banner headline" to that ef fect hoisted by the. Y.M.C.A. If the custom is continued throughout the South it should do a great deal towat ds making the staffs of college newspa pers a God-fearing lot. The sophomore classes of Wake Forest and State College have been in dulging in rivalry concerning the rel ative speed and artistry with which the inimical second year men could paint their class numerals (31) on the water tank of Meredith College, a neighbor ing college for girls. According to the "Old Gold and Black." of Wake Forest, the annual battles have grown ;o intense that the president of Mere dith College permitted each class to paint its numerals on the side of the tank nearest its respective college in a leisurely and finished manner. The University of Michigan held frosh tryouts for its three major pub lications this semester. Carolina-Citadel Student Song-Writer Popular Song Stolen From Its Composer And Put On Record The Citadel "Bull Dog" last week carried an article captioned "cadet composers," in which is was stated that Alfred Thompson, ex-cadet, but now a student at the University of South .Car olina, tinkered with a banjo during his spare time at the Citadel and tinkered into some words and music. The null Dog states that the music was sold for about $50, but when interviewed this morning by a Gamecock reporter, Mr. Thompson stated that he didn't get "a single nickel for the work." He also said that the piece' was stolen from him, was altered and put on a Victor record sung by Johnny Marvin, entitled "Sweetheart of All My Dreams." Mr. Thompson states that he now has several other compositions, but is in need of the necessary money to pub lish them. As far as is known no complaints were ever made concerning his service. So far as is known he is survived by only one son and one grandson. The son, Charlie.
