Hingson. managing editor Ashley Halsey, Bill Gaines, Anne New and Elizabeth Marshall, associate edi tors; Jim Pitts and Foy Stevenson, as sistant editors; Dorothy Cunningham, poetry editor and Laura Jean McAdams, art editor. The new editor announces that there will not he any radical changes in the editorial policy of the magazine. With the beginning of this semester, however, to encourage students to write for publication. the following cash prizes are to be offered for student con tributions for each issue. Best short story . $5.00 Best essay of sketch $5.00 Best poem - $5.00 Best short play (provided two or more plays are submitted for publication in each issue) $5.00 All student contributions submitted for publication in each issue will be turned over to a faculty committee, wlc will judke the work and make award3. Announcements of the winners of prize3 in each field will be made by the editor through The Gamecock as each issue of The Carolinian goes to press. All contributions for the March issue must be submitted by March 10. The medal is awarded av Mr. Gitt man of Columbia, comlpetentt judge In all of the fights this season, on the quti;icirations of boxing ability, value to student body and scholastic ability. George Keels. light-heavy, was elected to Captain the Birds of 1930. All of the seniors on the team will receive Block C's and gold boxing gloves while the undei graduates will get their share of recognition and appreciation '1 the form of Block C's. Ihis year boxing rose fron the ranks of a minor sport to become a mtajor. It now holds a place in the select group of majors along with football. haseball and track.
