FIELD HO,USE IS NAMED FOR SAMUEL BURKE Many Names Suggerted But the Faculty Decides to Ilonor University Reformer CONVERTER OF ATHLETES New Science Hall and Canteen Also Named-May Honor "Cyrus" Young At a meeting of the faculty and the board of trustees last night it was de cided to niame the new auditorium, located at Sumter; and D:vine streets, "Sani Burke Hall." Although several names, such as Mc Fadden stadium, Bocock lHouse, aild Jazz Hall, after otir gre.:' tullback, Jaskewiecz, were i-igge:,ted. it was fin ally decided, after mucli heated argu nient, to name it aft,r the great re former. It is thought that Mr. Burke is de serving of this honor for his untir'n efforts to foster Christmas athletics on the campus and to convert all athletes to the Y.M.C.A. At the same meeting it was decided to honor South Carolina's new ch'ef executive by calling the canteen the "Richard's Canteen," as it is never open on Sunday. "Teeple Temple" is the name chosen for the new science hall. This name was first proposed in a letter from the senior engineering class. It was sug gested that it be called Mahaffey col lege, but Teeple Temple soundedi more euphonious. Dr. Currell suggested this as being in keeping with Mr. Teeple's proclivities. Time was taken out here by the faculty to explain "Euphonious" an,] "proclivities" to Prof. Waterfall. A petiton was read from the L.av school to change the name of Petigru college to "Cy Young college" after that learned scion of the law. The faculty accepted this unanimous ly and voted to set up a bronze tablet inscribed: "CY YOUNG" "More learned than Socrates; More modest than Edmunds Chaste as Diana, Meek as Nelly Frierson." -U.s.c, 'HEAVY' LESTER TO WED PRINCE OF HER DREAMS PRINCE OFF HIGH HORSE Met Prince of Whales at Ideal and Woaed Him With Anatomy Congratulations are in order. Since the announcement of the engagement of Miss Evelyn Lester to the Prince of Whales, there has been a flurry of ex citement on the camptus. Althoughi Carolina boasts such celebraties as Johnnie Pate, Trom Craig, and Sydney Burns, the mammalian prince is to be considered an acquisition. The marriage is the ctlmination of a delightful romance. l,ester's Ideal met the prince while he was visiting her theater several months ago. His name has recently hiee Miss Lockman Will Run Woman's "Calf" Will Take Charge While Miss White Tours Europe This Summer The girls at the dormitory will be glad to learn that Miss Thelma Lock man is taking cooking lessons from Miss M. E. White. Miss White as planning an extended tour abroad this summer and Miss Lockman is to have charge of the cafeteria during summer school. Miss White states that Miss Lock man is progressing rapidly with her course and thinks by the last of h a term she will he capable of overseeing the cooking.
