LOCK "C" CLUB REORGANIZED " BY ATHLETES jembers Entertain the Football . Men With Banquet at the v Jefferson December 10 .TO HAVE CLUB ROOM Officials Are Made Honorary Members of Club-Stoney Cooperates The Block "C" Club, consisting of men at the University who have been awarded their "C"'s by the Athletic Advisory Board of the University, has been recently reorganized. It is the purpose of this club to cooperate with the Athletic Department and the var ious other branches of the University in doing everything possible for the athletic well being of the University. In the new field house that is being completed, in the rear of Steward's hall, there will be a club room for the Block "C" club. This will be fitted and furnished, and will form a suitable place for the members to entertain their friends and the various teams that shall visit the campus. This club has already done some very good work in the way that they handled the visiting high school teams during the games which decided the State championship in football. This work was handled by a committee con s.sting of "Si" Seideman, Buster Hol combe, and Bus Wise. Letters of thanks and appreciation have been re ceived from the various high schools for the cordial welcomes that they were given. The Block "C" club was alse 'he host to the varsity, freshman, and Scrub teams at a very delightful banquet giv en, December 10, at the Jefferson hotel. To provide for the visiting teams during the basketball season, B-ll Mil ler and "Lefty" Godshall have been appointed as chairman and assistant, respectively, with the power of select ing their own men to help them in this work. Plans are being made to initiate the men who made their Block "C"'s for the first t[me during the past football season. This initiation will take place shortly after the return from the Christmas holidays. In a recognition of the part that they have contributed to the athletic well being of the University through the use of their time and efforts the following men have been elected as honorary members of the Block "C" club: TL. C Dickert C Frierson C Godshall C Guarino C Hall C Hearon C CAPTAIN-ELECT WINGFIELD - U.S.C. - WINGFIELD IS CAPTAIN FOR NEXT SEASON IS A COLUMBIA BOY Is Named Leader of Team at Banquet of Varsity and the Freshman Players Emmett Lee Wingfield, of Columbia, is captain of the 1927 Gamecock eleven. He was elected at the banquet of the varsity and freshman teams, which was held on east Friday at the Jefferson hotel. The new captain has played halfback on the varsity team for two years. This year he is a senior in the Engineering school, but has anpther year of footbail coming to him as he did not play his sophomore year. Wingfield played bril,iantly in several games last season. Chief among these was in the great victory of Carolina over the Strong V. P. I. Gobblers. Press accounts gave him a great deal of credit is Carolina's remarkable show ing in a game which they were dope't by the experts to lose. No nominations were made outright, but each voter handed in his choice for the important position. Other seniors who wil, play their last season of col lege football niext year, are Sam Burke, Floyd Thomas, "Monkey" Price, Bob Wimbersy, "Buster" Holcombe, and "Red" Swink. - u.s.c. - TENEMENT 6 and ? pulled a neat pass in Monday's semi-finals game with tenement 29.
