CHAMPIONSHIP Pacific Mill's Quintet Downed 36 to 27 SOME GOOD PLAYING Gamecock Team In Top Form In Last Game of Season Oh, Von city chamips! Yes, the oldt Gnamecocks ain't niothin' else hut ! How (1) they get that way Why simply by diwning the fast and fearsome Pacific Mills' quintet Monday night, March 5th. on the University gymnasium floor to tle tune of 36 to 27. It was some game, too, but the Pacifics never could quite catch up with our boys, who grabbed the lead at the start and held mn to it until hos tilities were enided. "Fast" describes the contest exactly, for sometimes tlt' ac tio4 Ol the floor was so speedy that it was hard to tell who had the ball. The way that Jack \Vright ovred ground was a caution, and those accurate shots (4f Thorne Sparkman's wr(ote defeat all over the Pacific side o)f the score book. The aforementioied Mr. Sparkman (illy accountedi for 20 pwints all by his Ile some, and Jack Wright rung up 10 if the remainder. Old "Dick" Baker gave those Pacific boys a fit when he went after the ball, and 11 Lillis wasn't far behind him. Captain \Vally" was right there with the passing, and seemed tto he everywhere at once. Sholar' and Long, stars Of the Freshman team, both got inl tile game and showed tilp well. For Pacific Mills, Wallace was the inl dividtual star, ringing up i15 po inots aIl(l c.vering the floo(r like a flash. Kinox, the lainky center, was aother "speed king," anld caged sone pretty shiits. Mar tin, at guard, hriight appillase uilto himl self wheii lie caged a pretty Inc fromil s0lle distance back of center. The Pa cities staged a speedy rally inl the see 11d half that I(oke(l dangeros for the h<411me team f<ir a few ininlites, but thie Giallecocks got oin their toes and kept w%e ill the lead.
