Carolina Students Participate in Plays at C. C. On the evening of February 19th, the Dramatic Art Club of Columbia College piesented three one-act plays in the college auditorium. These plays were of cespecial interest as two university stu (ients took parts in them. The students taking part were: J. D. Humphries and "Mutt" Millard. A large and enthusias tic audience greeted the presentation of these plays, which were under the able 1irection of M.iss Marguerite Zimmer man, head of the Expression Department it the college. All the members of the :a-ts showed ability and thoroughness of drill in their respective parts. The first play on the program was a farce comedy, entitled "Mechanical jane." Miss Anna Culler was excellent in her representation of a mechanical loll, wlhi' the parts of two old-maid sisters were ably filled by Misses Helen 'o1mander and Hilegarde Dannelly. The second play was a tragic-comedy wititled "'radition." The leading part n this play was taken by Miss Ma(le ine Horres. who was ably supported by \liss jaunita Neely and J. D. Humphries. 'atty" showed in this play that he can flay a serious part and pull the "deep stuff" fully as well as he can take a .gliter part in a !arce comedy. The last play on the program was an >ther farce comedy, "Suppressed Dc ires." Those taking part were Misses \!afeline Horres and Fay Spears and Mutt" Millard. The latter carried off le part of a "distracted" husband as f he had had experience in that line. Several students of of the university .ave been taking part in plays at Colum >ia College recently, and at a recent meet ng o( the Dramatic Art club of Colum ); College. the following were elected to honorary membership in the club: W. . Ready, L H. Purdy, Ed Lllis, J. H. .hiMiard, J. D. Humphries and R. M. l'ope. Y. W. C. A. The regular meeting of the Y. Ws C. A. was held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Nielton Hall. The meeting .pened with a hymn, and Miss Katherine IcAllister gave a scripture reading. The president followed with a prayer. Mi s Breed. (if the city Y. XV. C. A.. the speaker for the afternoon, was in troduced by the president and gave a very interesting talk on Y. W. C. A. work in South America. Miss Breed spent about 5 years in Y. W. C. A. work in Buenos Aires. h'le president read a letter from the National Organization to the effect that the University Y. W. C. A. had been Ifliliated with the National Organization if Y. W. C. A's. A fter all business was attended to, the neeting was closed with a hymn. Micora Wins Game From Co-eds Although they never gave tip fighting intil the final whistle blew. the Pullets xere defeated by the Chicora College )asketball team last 'lhursday by the ;core of 60 to 10. This one-sided score loes not tell how the Carolina girls fough*. gamely throughout the contest. md1( although the Chicora girls wvere all nuch bigger than our Pullets these same Pullets gave them to understand that hey couldn't get away wvith just any hing in the game. The fe'ature of the ~ame was the passing of Clark for Chii :-ora. F'or the victors D)antzler and Clark tarredl, while Merideth, WVilson and Al en were the outstanding performers for the co-edls.
