EUPHRADIAN SOCIETY The regular weekly meeting of the Euphradian Society was held Friday night with the following program: C. H. Yates, Current Events; J. C. B. Smith, Witticisms; C. H. Barlow, extemporaneous speaker, gave an excellent talk on "The Ideal College Man." The debate was very spirited. Resolved, That the U. S. should recognize the present Russian Government. The affirmative was upheld by G. L. Taylor and R. II. Ramsey, the negative by (. 1. Dabbs and I Ior inbine. The judges decided in fa vor of the Affirmative. CLARoSOPHIC SOCIETY The Clariosophic Literary So ciety met 1'riday night with fair ly good attendance. In the ab sence of the president and vice president, Mr. E. M. Smith, lit erary critic, took the chair. Mr. J. E. Millard acted as literary critic. The program was unusually good. The first four members taking part proved by their work that their respective parts of the program can be made really in teresting and entertaining to an audience. The debate was on an ancient an( much mooted ques tion and it was hard for the de baters to bring out new and in teresting material. The program was as follows: Declaimers-McSwa in, W. A.; Folk, W. IT. Current Events-Ready, Epps. Orator--Chewning, C. S. Debate-Resolved: That a three-fourths majority of a jury should be sufficient to make a de cision. Affirmative-Teal, Isom and Marchant, M. Q. M. Negative-Johnson, 0. 1). and Clark, W. A. The coimmittee oil debate de cided in favor of the afirimative. The impromptu debate, on the question of telling children six years old, who Santa Claus is, was also interesting. IHYPATIAN SOCIETY. The Hlypatianm Literary Society held its regular meeting Saturday D)ecember 3. After the roll call and reading of the minutes, twvo names were offered for member ship-Misses Fay TVoney and1 Lil lie Williamson.
