FORM MASONIC CLUB. Guy A Gullick President of University Student Or Oaniz;ation. The first college unit of Ma sons in South Carolina was or ganized Monday in the Uni versity Masonic Club. The or ganization is entirely social and all members of the student body who are Masons are en titled to membership, about 25 students being enrolled Mon day as charter members. Offi cers of the club as elected at the organization meeting are: Guy A. Gullick of Greenville, y, president; Benjamin; Haile, marshal of the university, vice president;; G. I. Rentz of va Branchville, secretary, and T. e O. Sease of Little Mountain, treasurer. The Masonic Club is plan C ning a number of banquets and other functions of a social na ture during the semester. Such organizations of the Masons among college students have been formed in practically ev ery State university in the country, although the universi ty chapter is the only club of its kind in South Carolina. The Masonic Club is probably the only secret organization which can be formed in any of the South Carolina State education al institutions. Greek letter fraternities and "similar or ganizations" being prohibited by statute. A bill recently passed by the house of repre sentatives and now awaiting action by the senate, would permit the entrance of frater nities subject to the approval of the board of trustees. RULES ADOPTED FOR S. C. I. A. A. State Intercollegiate Athletic Association Meets in Flinn Hall. At a meeting in Flinn Hall ter-collegiate Association adop ted the rules of the S. C. I. A. A. as the official regulations to govern college sport in South Carolina. The State Inter-col legiate Athletic Association is affiliated with the S. I. A. A. members of the local body playing under the rules of the Southern Association. Pres. W. M. Riggs, of Clem son College, was re-elected president of the association; L. S. LeTellier, of the Citadel be ing selected as secretary. Mem bers of the association attend ing were: W. M. Riggs, Clem eon; A. V. Martin, Presbyte rian College; E. B. Setzler, Newberry; E. M. Thank you, P. C. We like your sportsmanlike spirit also. SUBJECT ANNOUNCED FOR C-C-C- DEBATE. The subject to be debated in the triangular debate between the Citadel, Clemson and the academic students of the uni versity, as announced by the debating council is: "Resolved, That all immigra tion to the United States, ex cept that from English-speak ing races, should be prohibited for three years after the sign ing of peace." This is the an nual debate between the three State institutions, and is open only to under-graduate stu dents. Students registered ih the law school are not eligible. PLAN RIFLE CLUB. The university is planning to organize a Rifle Club, and it is expected that the club will put out a formidable team. The men back of the movement are Major Duvall and Guy Gullick. At the student body meeting Saturday morning question aires were given out by Mr. Gullick, which are to be used by students wishing to become members. The membership of the club will be limited to 40 men. A rifle range will be built on the campus. The Na tional Rifle Association of America will furnish the rifles and the government the am munition.
