J. N. WILEY IS SPEAKER BEFORE ENGINEER CLASS The second of the series of lec tures to engineering students will be given tonight in LeConte College. C. N. Wiley, of the Portland Cement Association, Chicago, is the speaker. His subject will be "Concrete Ships and Barges." Mr. Wiley has been engaged for the past several months in study and in vestigation of this subject. He will illustrate his address with numerous stereopticon slides. The lectures are open to the public, and Mr. Rowe hopes a large audience will attend. By reason of the increasiug use of concrete in ship construction in -onnection with the urgent war program of shipbuilding, this lecture should prove of wide interest. Many engineers be lieve concrete ships will prove an excellent solution to the ship ping problem. Much new ton nage must de provided to trans port men and provisions to assist in winning the war. Mr. Nelson will tell of the many reasons why he believes concrete is a logical material for ship construction and why the reasons are especially appli cable at this time. He will show the plentifulness of ma terials, the small necessity for skilled labor, comparative cost, durability and rapidity of con struction. NEW OFFICERS ELECTED FOR LAW ASSOCIATION The L a w Association held its regular session of moot court in the law rooms last Thurs day with an appeal case to be considered. The lawyers assign el to the case were: C. L. Shealy and J. B. Miller, J. C. Kearse and C. C. Sloan. Prof. E. Mar io. Racker of the law depart m2nt acted as chief justice, with P. M. Becton and C. R. Wells as a; oeiate justices. The second term officers of the Law Associa tion are: P. M. Becton, presi dthnt; J. B. Miller, vice president; C. C. Sloan, secretary; C. R. Wells, treasurer; Mrs. M. L. Hol man, clerk of court; Marcus Price, sheriff; J. C. Kearse, court crier. The association meets every Thursday evening, and is rapidly becoming one of the most beneficial departments )I the law school in giving the future lawyers their first taste >f actual court conditions.
