D. Beale, the new matron, has done wonders towards making J the place home-like and attrac tive and has quite won the hearts of all the girls by her 2sympathy and tact. Ehe girls this year are taking - their meals at the mess hall and are very much pleased with both , the fare and service and wish to .thank Mrs. Latimer for all she is doing to make things pleasant for them there. There are quite a number of new girls here this year both from Columbia and out of town. The reports from the law stu dent are so encouraging that it seems quite probable that sev eral more will follow her ex ample next year, and having penetratcd even the sacred por tals of the law school, where will the invasion cease! The Hypatian Society - made a very encouraging start and will have its first regular meet ing at four o'clock next Satur day afternoon. At a call meet ing last Monday two neWhfficers were elected. These were Miss Marguerite Grandenberg, secre tary, to replace Miss Fay Hud gens who has entered college at Converse and Miss Annie Kelly, treasurer. The new members will be initiated at the next meeting Saturday afternoon.
