the beginning of the term, Miss
M. D. Beale, the new matron, has
done wonders towards making
J the place home-like and attrac
tive and has quite won the
hearts of all the girls by her
2sympathy and tact.
Ehe girls this year are taking
- their meals at the mess hall and
are very much pleased with both
, the fare and service and wish to
.thank Mrs. Latimer for all she
is doing to make things pleasant
for them there.
There are quite a number of
new girls here this year both
from Columbia and out of town.
The reports from the law stu
dent are so encouraging that it
seems quite probable that sev
eral more will follow her ex
ample next year, and having
penetratcd even the sacred por
tals of the law school, where
will the invasion cease!
The Hypatian Society - made
a very encouraging start and
will have its first regular meet
ing at four o'clock next Satur
day afternoon. At a call meet
ing last Monday two neWhfficers
were elected. These were Miss
Marguerite Grandenberg, secre
tary, to replace Miss Fay Hud
gens who has entered college at
Converse and Miss Annie Kelly,
treasurer. The new members
will be initiated at the next
meeting Saturday afternoon.
