CAROLINA WINS FROM CITADEL IN CLOSE GAME Bulldog Gives Gamecock Hot and Rapid Chase. Exciting Contest-Carolina Five Maintain a Steady Lead Thruout. Carolina got revenge for the Thanksgiving day game by over coming the Citadel at basket hall by a score of 29 to 25 on last Friday night in the Univer sity gymnasium. The Bulldogs made it interesting at every Ioint in the game. The game was altogether one of the most exciting played on the home floor this year. The first half of the game was not particularly exciting as the Gamecocks kept a steady but small lead. In the secon(d half things warmed up and the Citadel five forced Caro lina to faster work, so much so that up to the last few min utes of play it was doubtful who would he the winner. To pick a stars from the. Caro lina team was almost impossible. Every Player did his part and did it well, with Howen,- Sims. and Martin having a slight van tage over the others. Martin played his best game of the year. Patrick was unquestionafy the shining star of the Citadel team, with Weeks and Chalker follow iig a close second. This is probably Carolin's last game on her home floor. Several members of the Caro lina s(iad were out of the game. Wells was incapacitated by an injured nose. Secretary of the Students' Department Will Give Series of Lectures at Carolina. Dr. W. D. Weatherford, In ternational Y. M. C. A. Secre tary, of the students' depart ment, will lecture at the Univer sity from the 3rd to the 6th of March. "Fundamentals of Chris tianity'' is the subject that will be treated by the well known speaker. The series will begin Friday night, March 3. The chapel has been selected as the place of meeting, so that room may be had for all students who can pos sibly attend. Dr. Weatherford will make a short talk in chapel Saturday morning, and second number of the series will be given Saturday night in chapel at 7:30. The literary societies have postponed their meetings until 8:30 on that night in order that the members may have the opportunity to attend the lec ture. The last and big number of the course will be delivered at the Pastime Theatre Sunday Af ternoon at 3:30. The lectures given on the campu; are under the auspices of the University Y. M. C. A., b,-ut the meeting or Sunday afteinoon will be held jointly-by the city and Universi ty Y. M-. C. A's Tne address that will be made Sunday was heard by a large crowd in~ Green'vile last yeair.
