Orangehurg S. M. HUNTLEY (Y. M. C. A.) Cheraw Columbia, S. C., Oct. 26, 1915. Winthrop, we are wholly thine! Carolina-A. & M., 19-10. Car olina-Clemson, we should figure! With Winthrop here we can appreciate the term "Fair Week.'" Itf that bunch expects victory. we would call them blind 'T'igers. Peaches is our favorite fruit. We are going to like that aggre gation at the game Friday. Silence sometimes gives dis content. A fellow thinks mighty highly of his friends to write to them from Pike's Peak. The objection to automobiling is that one must re-tire so early. FAIR WEEK Fair week is always a gay time for the Carolina students. We have friends and relatives in town who have come, perhaps, to be with us. It is our duty to do everything for them that we possibly can. Let's make their trip pleasant. Of course, no one wvill be rude to another purp)osely, hut let us remember that whomever we meet nmight he a relative or friend to one of our' best friends'. So we should make it as pleasant as we can for all strangers in the city. By this means we can raise in the minds over the State the moral and social standards of the University. It may b)rin on our midstsome of the best youth of the State. And we might remind the fac ulty that those who send us here expect us to show theni some attention. We cannot do this if special long assignments are given, or quizzes are held during the week. However, we have always found that a majority of the faculty are aware of this fact and have shown their feel ing for humanity. "LOVE'S LABORS LOST" It has been an old, old practice after hard fought victories for the Carolina student body to hold parades, and serenade the wom en's colleges. After receiving the report from Thursday's game the Gamecocks proceeded in a body up Main Street, and then to Chicora College for Women. We regret to relate that no response was heard. Never before, so far as we know, has the Gamecock crow failed to elicit a response. Friday a note of appreciation and regret that they could not greet us came from the Chicora student body, and was heartily welcomed. . We do not know the reason for the reponse unheard, therefore, we refrain from any comment. But we would like to explain that the cheers were offered with the highest respect to the insti tution, its students and faculty; that the action of the students came from a feeling of the friend liest relations; and without a thought of evoking the slightest breach of the discipline of the college. We know from the letter re ceived that the students did not follow the dictates of their own hearts and minds. Furthermore, we believe that they will have the privilege in the future of welcoming the Carolina students and return their cheers. FORCED UPON US We apologize for this scant is sue which we are forced to pro duce. We blush with indigna tion.
