Mrs. Thain had been quite ill Lot the past ten months and had ,stadily gow%'worse until this last week Miss Thain .had to give up ther school duties and stay at her mother's bedside. S.- McIn 2 nes will uphold the negative " raide,of the tniangular -debate to night at the University of Ten - esssee against Georgia. Dud ley is an M. A. student this year, and is recognized as one of the strongest debaters Carolina has ever produced. He is a Clariosophic, and was on the team that got the decision againt Virginia last year. He has represented :Carolina -on sev eral occasions. McInnes is a senior law student and a mem ber of the Legislature. He is a member -of +he Euphradian So ciety. He won the Roddey medal in debate in 1913-14, and has upheld Carolina's side in in tercollegiate debates. The Uni versity feels thad she has a win ning team and confidently ex pects the decision. This is the second year that Carolina has debated against Georgia. She feels that this-is the continuation of a happy relation ship in forensic activity .bptween the Pahnetto and Peanut.States. Last year Georgia got the (decis ion of the triangle. Dr. Morse Attends Meetings. Dr. Josiah Morse will leave early inext week for Montgom ery and Tuskegee, Alabama, to be at a meeting of the Southern University Commission for the Study of the Race Problem. Dr. Morse has done considerable re search work in sthis study, and is an authority on the race question. From Alabama he will go to Houston, Texas. to .attend the Southern Sociological Associa tion, of which he is vice presi dent. Mr. Watson, who holds the chair of. psychology atJohn Hop kins University, made an infor mal talk before the student body Monday .n njrg. Mr. Watson was born in South Carolina and studied Psychology at the Uni versity under Dr. Gordon Moore. He has been president of the See6hern Peyehloegical -and Philosophical Association, and is now editor of the Psychologioa Review. Hie is the author of.sev eral books. He is experimenting with birds. Speak in ,Summer School. This is the 14th ses sion of the school. Many South Carolina teachers attend the lec tures each summer.
