CO-ED DEPARTMENT Miss Fromberg, Editor Miss Neal Thain of '14 was here to see the game and take in the State Fair. Who was it that suggested a co-ed football team? No one can tell, the future is veiled. Bravely did our men struggle with the giant tillers of the soil, and how proud we were of our Carolinas! *0* When a Carolina fellow had one of the "Clembersons" down one of the co-eds yelled, "Kill him! Kill him!" At the last meeting of the Co ed Association Miss Sarah From berg was elected co-ed editor (should it be editress?) of The Gamecock. * ** The co-eds turned out at the game and were much concerned with its progress. Their spirits were with the team, though they were helpless to avert the inevi table result. We wish to express our appre ciation to the editorial staff and to the student body for granting us the use of a column in The Gamecock, to be edited by one of our number. We could scarcely restrain our selves from jumping in the field and wreaking vengeance upon the horticulturists. We just re membered in time that they were our guests. The co-eds met Wednesday at 10:30 a. in. and discussed vari ous matters after which they came to a number of conclusions: 1st. That the co-eds hald their meetings at the Varsity Hall on Marion Street every first and third Wednesday of each month during half hours allotted to chapel gatherings. 2nd. That these meetings will correspond to those held by the student body in the chapel. 3rd. That nothing pertaining to the athletic club be discussed at these meetings. Two committees were appoint ed, one to arrange with Mr. Blackburn as to basketball and gymnastics for the co-eds, the other to dlecide on an appropriate name for the dormitory on Mar ion Street. Mr. Bleckburn, physicial in structor, is planning to have a match game between the first and second year gym classes in soccer football. HERE AND THERE Say, you sophomore there, ask that "freshie" how much a pound of mercury weighs. Smith-Didn't 'Dr. Mills say 70'% of us is water? Gaskin-Den how much of me is gas? Smith embraces Gaskin. Waters-How do you spell C. F. W? Rast-College for Women. * * * Some of our juniors are in the autumn of their maturity. See ing a car-barn near the railroad on entering Spartanburg, Jones exclaimed, "there is the barn yard." That Citadel bunch has about as much chance as the Thanks giving gobbler in the pen. Soup-What's yer da, look in' so tickled about? Hash-He's chawin' on a funny bone. They clinch. -The Daily Texan. *" The mistress of the house was sobbing bitterly, "My poor daughter," she sobbed, "has just entered Columbia College." "Yas, mam! Yas'm," sympa thized the black cook, "I know zackly how you feels. I got a gal been a six mont' in jail." Instructor--What is your name, please?" Student Why, its -on the board, sir. Instructor- Yes, that made me curious. "'Tis true her hair was light, bright red! And both her teeth were white, Her shape was like a tall bean pole, It sure was out of sight." The Log. Tennis Finals. Only a small crowd witnessea the tennis finals which were played Monday afternoon on the LeConte College court. The Universiny men had the score in their favor in doubles and the Presbyterian College, located at Clinton, representative predomi nated in singles.
