CAROLINA WINS TENNIS GAMES FROM DAVIDSON Carey and Waring Beat Presbyterian Boys. The tenis meet between Carolina and Davidson was held Monday on the courts back of Rutledge. In the morning, \Varing for the Gamecocks defeated Pim of Davidson by the scores of 6-2 6-o. In the first game Pim started stroing with a lead of 2- 1, but \Waring finislhed the set by winning live straight. The second set was never in doubt. Waring was a trifle wild in his service, allowing four doubles, while his opponent served not a single double fault. In the a fternoon the dual chain l)ionshil) was decided when Waring and Cary took three straights from Pim and Craw ford of Davidson to the time of 6-o, 6-1, 6-3. Cary played a splendid aggressive game throughout, while Waring placed well. Carolina hopes to meet the Davidson team on their home grounds. ~\latches are also being negotiated for with Wake Forest and A. & \I. at Raleigh. V. \Vade were elected members. IDr. Josiah Morse, in a brief talk to the new members, clearly set forth the plrposes and ideals of the (organization. He said one of its chicf aims was to give an opportu nity for practice in the art of citi zenship. Mr. Smith's was the first of a se ries of papers on education embrac ing its academic, its normal and its technical phases, and taking as con crete examples in this State, the University, \\'inthrop and Clemson.
