CAROLINA WINS TENNIS
GAMES FROM DAVIDSON
Carey and Waring Beat Presbyterian
Boys.
The tenis meet between Carolina
and Davidson was held Monday on
the courts back of Rutledge. In the
morning, \Varing for the Gamecocks
defeated Pim of Davidson by the
scores of 6-2 6-o. In the first game
Pim started stroing with a lead of
2- 1, but \Waring finislhed the set by
winning live straight. The second
set was never in doubt. Waring was
a trifle wild in his service, allowing
four doubles, while his opponent
served not a single double fault.
In the a fternoon the dual chain
l)ionshil) was decided when Waring
and Cary took three straights from
Pim and Craw ford of Davidson to
the time of 6-o, 6-1, 6-3. Cary
played a splendid aggressive game
throughout, while Waring placed
well. Carolina hopes to meet the
Davidson team on their home
grounds. ~\latches are also being
negotiated for with Wake Forest
and A. & \I. at Raleigh. Waring
and Cary will go to the Southern
intercollegiate contest, which will be
held in Atlanta \lav 4.
