CAROLINA DELEGATES AT VARIOUS MEETINGS University Has Been Well Repre sented at Conferences Held This Year. At the various conferences of the student Associations that have been held during the past year Carolina has been well represented. At the great Southern student conference at Montreat last June the University had in all ten representatives, for either the whole or part of the ten days: Messrs. W. B. McGowan, R. F. Simpson, F. R. Hemingway, A. H. Williams, W. P. Mills, G. H. Edwards, Jr., A. H. Odom, Elmer Waring, M. S. Brohun and Prof. Twitchell. The last named gentle man added greatly by his presence to the enjoyment of those who took the trip to Mt. Mitchell at the close of the conference. A strong delegation numbering in all fourteen members went to the State Bible Study Institute at New berry in October. Messrs. Alan Johnstone, Jr., -F. W. Cappelmann, S. A. White, H. G. Goggans, Bur net Stoney, A.' ). Odom, F. R. Hemingway, E. H. Hanna, J. L. Green, V. H. Willets, C. S. Davis, O. K. McDaniel, R. S. Owens and V. P. Mills composed this delega tion--a delegation truly representa tive of the student body of the Uni versity and of its interest in the work of the Y. M. C. A. Messrs. B. Davenport and T. S. McMillan represented the Associa tion at the convention in Charleston in February. This convention is not primarily a student gathering, so no effort was made to secure a large delegation, though the two gentle men named were sent just because the University Y. M. C. A. wished to keep in touch with the general work of the whole Association, of which the student work is only a part. -At the annual convention in February the whole work of the Association in the Carolinas was set fortho the city, student, army, rail road and industrial, and this larger view is always helpful to the dele gates in that it enables them to see the full importance of the many sided work wvhich the Association is carrying on in the twvo States. At the Student Volunteer Con ference for Foreign Missions held at Due WVest in March Carolina again had a good dlelegationl, Messrs. L. L. R iley, G. WX. Ward, H. S. \Velch, HI. L. Dickson, A. D. Odom, WV. H. McMurray, S. P. Schneider and WV. P. Mills. This delegation wvas about eqlual to that from any other of the men's colleges in the State, save possibly that of Furman. The above story goes to show that the University Association tries to keep fully abreast of what is going on in the stud(ent wvorldl in the line of religious wvork, and all that is needed now to hring- us thoroughly up to date in methods and plans for Association work will be a good strong delegation to the summer conference in June at Black Mountain. Every one is urged to read carefully the article in regard to this conference which appears elsewhere in this issue, and to begin to make plans now if possible for attending it. Member of Class of 1904 Longs for South Carolina. New Orleans, La., April 5, 1912. Miss Margaret H. Rion, University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. My Dear Miss Rionl: I am today in receipt of your letter of 3rd inst., and I thank you for the information given me. I am addressing Mr. Seabrook- in reference to the matter. If I fail to get the copies from him I will try to get the missing volumes from some kinsman in upper Carolina. I hope you and Miss LeConte are quite well. Give my best wishes to my old friends on the campus. New Orleans is a great and won derful city to me, but with all its glory I believe I would choose Columbia as my final dwelling place. Since leaving the old college I am glad to say I have been fortunate enough to make an honest living and hope to amass enough before many years to return to my native State and enjoy her civilized influences. Very respectfully yours, Frank L. Dusenbury, 'o4. Prof. A. C. Carson to Speak on Aviation. The next popular lecture of the University extension course will be given in the chapel on next Thurs day evening by Prof. A. C. Carson. -is subject is "Aviation."
