BOOKFFELLER YS ROOSEVELT, The Standard Oil People Said to ije Down on the Administration. Wasnington, March 22.-Following the visit of J. Pierpont Morgan to the 'White House last week has come a lot <? talk which centres about President ..-Jteoseyelt The "reconciliation" be? tween Mr. Morgan and Mr. Roosevelt -bas increased the hostility of the ?wkefeller-Grould-Harriman interests to the Administration. The Rocke? fellers have believed all along that Mr. Morgan's acquiescence in the anti "trast legislation of the recent session o? congress was meant to be unfriendly to the Standard Oil Company's inter? ests, and the rivalry existing between the two powerful financial factions is -reflected here now incertain develop? ments not without interest to both political parties. The President is convinced of the hostility of the Rockefelleri-Gould-I^ar riman group from certain happenings since the publication of the now fam? ous Rockefeller telegram, and his .friends have advised him that in his ^campaign next year he should have in control only men that can be depended ^apon to fight the battle to a successful finish. This has brought in Senator Sauna's name, and it is understood "that in the event of Mr. Roossvelt's nomination he will be retired as chair? man of the Republican national com? mittee ; thatj-his place will be taken by 'William Murray Crane, of Massachu? setts, and Gen. James S. Clarkson Will be a prominent figure in the manage? ment of the campaign. This brings up "the relations between President Roose? velt and Senator Platt on one side and Governor Odell, on the other. It no longer can be disguised that the break in the New York State Re? publican organization between Gover? nor Odell and Senator Platt is a factor in Washington. President Roosevelt has had to take sides, and it can be said that he and the two United States Senators from New York are in har- j mony. The desires of Platt and Depew are to govern in all Federal appoint? ments. No man friendly to Gcvernor Odell is to be appointed to office. New Orleans Times-Democrat. Washington, March ^5.-The treas Tiry department today gave notice that on Mondays and Thursdays until fur? ther notice offers would be received at the bureau of the mint for the sale to the government of silver bullion to be used in coining pesos under the Philippine coinage act, approved March 2, 190& 'No offers of less than 4,000 ounces will be entertained. The department will purchase $2,000,000 worth of silver bullion for coinage into- pesoi. Everybody's Magazine at Osteen's. -?"?5 HINDI PO \^>0^?^^\ VITAUX!" A dispatch from Louisville says: Henry Watterson finally has taken note of the entertainment on the part of New York's 400 of a negro woman, Aida Overton Walker. The Courier Jonrnal's editor does . not appear to have been greatly shocked. He says some of these swells need not go far back to find negro blood in their veins. Says Mr. Watterson: "The newspa? pers are making an ado over the in? cident which came to pass at Del moriico's the other evening, where at a function by some members of ?he smart set a colored lady became the piece of resistance, as we Irish say. * * The Courier-Jonrnal has been asked by several esteemed contemporaries for an expression as to this new departure. It is not, we take leave to remark, an altogther new departure. Several swells named as of those present are known to have acted within their rights. If questioned, these might trace their own origin back to the rich, red blood of the Ethiopian, in some cases not so very far back, either. They did but honor their race in honoring the dusky representatives J of the vaudeville stage. "The Courier-Journal is not en? gaged in the work of sensational specification. If it was so engaged, it might reduce the great question to the dimensions of a vulgar scandal." April Everybody's. Osteen's Book Store. Sick and nervous headaches are amongst the worst ills of life. The man cr woman who is subject to headache at irregular intervals, goes through life bearing a load of misery and wretchedness that is terrible to think of. Headaches as a rule, result fr<-m a dis? ordered condition of the nervous system. Mental excitement, loss of sleep, bodily fatigue, and disordered digestion are exciting causes. When the brain becomes tired and debilitated, the whole nervous system is weak? ened, and headaches result. If the liver is sluggish, the kidneys inactive, and digestion deranged, headaches invariably follow. To cure and prevent headache, the nervous sys? tem must be strengthened and vitalized. The most persistent cases of headache, nerv? us feebleness, and sleeplessness, are permanently cured by Paine's Celery Compound ; it :s the great rec?nstructart of the nervous system. Mrs. Henry Westrick, St. Clair, Mich., teil* of her release from suffering as follows : " I have been troubled with dyspepsia sick headache for a number of years. Au .ut every week I would have a bad spell of sick headache, but since I began using Paine's Celery Compound, my dyspepsia is gone, and I do not have any more headaches. I feel better than I have for years." Jfo Keed Soiling the Hands with | DIAMOND DYES j Diamond Dyes are easy and cleanly to risc. |S Made ior home economy ; never disappoint.
