Coroner Moses held an icqcest Friday night at Tindals upon the body of Carolice Hamp? ton, an old ccictel woman, about 70 years old, who was burned to death yesterday morning The facts obtained at tbe inquest were that she lived by herself io preference to staying with ber relations. She had been sick for ssveral days, and ber granddaughter looked after ber, going to the boase occasionally. She carried breakfast to tbe old woman in the morning and left her before the fire in ber boase On going beck about ll o'clock tbe old woman was found dead and ber clotbiog burned ofi her body. It was supposed that a coal popped out from the fire, or she dropped fire from her pipe on her bed. The verdict of the ir quest was that she came to her death by being burnt while lying before the fire, and that DO one was responsi? ble for ber death. How she wa3 burned to death and the bouse not set on fire, was a little singular. Added to the horror of the occurrence, dogs bH? gotten to the body and toro and devour? ed a part of it before the inquest was oeld. Wm.
