* fFrom the Green ville News, 4th.] Spamisbdbg, Feb. 3.?Unless ail signs fail we will soon bave the biggest fi^Sf^W^^fe0*? l?taeasedtor some years, in a former letter I gave some o? ihe-rumor? ?hieb were afloat concerning the tranble the "Alliance Store" was ia. Developments have ^firiwweef feat' and Yellowed faster" ia ?e^lastr^we^deys, and ?r?sC now settled beyond peradventure that. the. concern lias am ash ed to fh u ders.1 - During S on day every thing-was of coarse quiet, bat ?ftere was an undercurrent of expectant excitement which steadily increased ail day Monday. Everybody knew 'that there were near ?10,000 in claims held fop ^farions merchants by . several law firms ia this etty. The l?gal fraternity wie ob the qui vth? daring the whole day, and one or more of them were at the Alliance -atore all ; the time Niehofla & Moore, Carlisle A Hydrick Bomar tfe Simpson and Jonsou & Thorn as all held claims and were exceedingly desirous 'of conferring " with Mr MeZimmerman, the Alliance agent. The houses that these gentlemen rep-, resent are scattered from Baltimore to Atlanta, in which latter city one house iaj in volved to the extent * of $7,000. Late yesterday evening Johnson & * Thotaason and Niehol Is & M oore issued as injunction - against the house, and .attempted to take possession. S her i S N?chofls and his deputies went down to the Alliance store with that object; trat failed io make au entrance, the bouse being closed, and they not considering their papers warranted them in breaking in. Mr. MeZtmmerman was in . the plaie all the whi?e and would extinguish the, lights, whenever they'applied for admission. Finally the Sheriff stationed a guard about the house who were to watch them until a late hour at night. This they did. %et after they left the place?.- notwithstanding the met that it was a. horrible eight, MeZtmmerman moved a large quantity of goods to the Air Line depot, where they were dis covered this morning. It is now un derstood that h,^ had sold ont te a firm in Charlotte. The goods were attached . this morning and papers were served upon MeZtmmerman whilst he. was yet in bed, by the Sheriff, and now every body is expecting seme startling devel . opments every _hour. The executive commiUee of the Alli ance held a meeting here yesterday and finairy determined .that they did not N hold themselves. HaWe for MeZimmer man Y debts. They said that, he had no authority from them to conduct the business as be bad ' been conducting it, and that consequently his creditors mast look to him for payment. The credi tors clarm of course that the Alliance is liable, bat in view of the' doabt on the ?abject a pretty lively scuffle for erimt is ia sight b in progress. %ewu?^e>p?adent,.8aw yesterday a . geu.tl.?man.who had been in charge of the branch store which McZimmerm&i uas.been running at Clifton. He said he could not imagine how it was possible ipr so many debts to have, been contracted, for he knew personally that the goods were bought on thirty sad sixty days' time and sold for cash, consequently there 'should always have been plenty of foods to liquidate all claims. The same man. said that tbe store at Clifton had a stock of $4,000 This-morning it was learned that McZimmerEian sold it Saturday for $1,000 in cash. The fishy appearance of tfeis transaction, is creating mach comment, as is likewise the feet "that it is inbwn that as far back as last Friday he was selling, ont large quantities of tbe C?tou stock .at a price far below cost. 'The impression prevails that the developments .from bow oo will have r decidedly crocked tendency t ~*Sbm persons : wn? claim to know what they are talking about, say that these will-be $30,000 to be paid by the Alliance or somebody else. Others pat It from $10;000 to |l6,000. Spa^a^bt*?,. .Feb. 3.-^Thts after-: noon c?trttBel for M cZi m m er m an ap "pealed for- time oa the injunction, which was to have been beard this afternoon, aod -tbe ease was postponed till Thurs day afternoon. To-morrow they will apply' to set- aside the attachment on the goods. n^S?MlS?^sSi Charles ton. Charleston;-Feb. 13?The appoint "meat oflB. ?i?rSeiU, Geo. W. Wil liams and Jacob Smalt, all bank presi ..dents as conicjissi oners of. registration 'for Charleston has stirred op the poiiti ciaos here and the pot is once more boiling.- Both faotion3 of the Demo cratic " party, ringsters and reformers, profess .to be satisfied, although it i* known that both sides had sent other names to the Governor. The three commissioners, D A. J. ^Sullivan, Jbo. B. Reeves, anJ Henry Schachte, sent in by tbe county Demo crats executive committee and endorsed by the .Charleston delegation in the leg islature and bad been endorsed by Sen ator Irby chairman of tbe Democratic State committee and by Congressman Shell, the father cf the farmer s move ment, and it is said that this was in ac cordance with tbe deal made between the regulars here and the Tillman executive committee during the recent campaign. Governor Tillman, however, refused to deliver tbe goods. The reform, or Tillman, faction bad aise s?naisf three names. These were also Thrown over by the governor None of the new appoiutees were con sulted and their appointaient was as .great a surprise to them as it was to the pablX It is probable that ail three will consent to serve as everybody seems satisfied to have it so. Their woik is to straighten out the entangle ment in the registration books caused by the confusion in tbe cumber of polling precincts, these being different for. State and municipal elections They have nothing to do with tbe appointment of managers of election. ?a* WB CAN A NO DO 'Guarantee Acker*?
